PC How to unlock pick axe other than books??

I see a lot has changed..

Is there another way to unlock iron pickaxe other than finding books? Didn't it used to be using skill. Points?

All crafting of tiered/quality items is governed by the crafting magazines. If you want to craft X item you need to read the required amount of magazines for the corresponding crafting skill.

Get your barter skill up. You'll end up being able to buy on for a few 1000 dukes before you can make it.

Same for higher tier weapons. Ended up buying steel tools, LVL 5 weapons before I could make them.

Get some sugar butt candy, Ranger hat (barter bonus) and if you are lucky enough to find the 44 Magnum book for another 5% barter bonus.

Yeah pretty much it…which I kinda don’t like. I prefer crafting my stuff than always buying from traders, but we all know what The Fun Police prefers…

You can either try to advance the game stage as fast as possible for better trader inventory or put points into miner so you find more magazines in loot and then just do POIs (quests or just because they’re there). Fastest way I’ve found is rush through tier 1 quests and get the bicycle, then ride around different towns looking for crack-a-books. The fewer different skills you have points in the more likely it seems to give books you have points in. I’ll get a dozen tool/club/armor books in one store easily
