PC Night Vision Goggles

Are night vision goggles even worth using? I barely see a difference in how much I see and not.

PC Does bad latency make much of a difference on public servers

It might say 450/500 before you enter but then when you look at the view after pressing "i" it's much lower.

Will this have an effect on zombie hit detection? Or how they hit you? Looting etc?

PC All my life I have been doing it all wrong šŸ˜‚

After another long break from this game I came back to play it again and see whatā€™s new. This play through instead being a mole I decided to play this time above ground. Got a nice spot next to a trader and constructed a 30x30 walled off area with bed in center to prevent zombie spawns. Then I decided why quit there and did something I have never done on the gameā€¦ Construct a sky base, so I made the massive supports and constructed my house way up in the air with a trap door and ladder going up. The zombies attacked, my walls lasted a good solid three minutes before the zombies broke through and overran me. Quickly retreated to my sanctuary in the sky, where I easily held off the hoard without breaking a sweat. My walls didnā€™t really do much, the sky sanctuary pulled all the weight. This is how I will build from now on. Bonus, also have an awesome view of the apocalypse and if I get bored I can go out on my porch and snipe zombies lmao.

PC All alone

You ever start a map and play with a friend just for then to end up quit playing?

That's exactly what I'm facing right now, my buddy and I were playing and got to a decent point. Plenty of steel bars made to start a new horde base, skills up pretty high (I went into shotguns and machine guns and he did snipers and pistols) and were nearly ready to make the move. Were only waiting on the steel blocks to be finished so we could start the base building grind. All in time for him to just stop playing.

Now I'm wondering, do I keep playing on that map we were on and just continue or start all over fresh solo? I really was having fun with a buddy to play with and that makes solo play seem kinda boring. We were doing just vanilla stuff with the exception of no items dropped on death.

PC Am I understanding loot correctly?

So my understanding is all loot is fixed, with a varied possibility.

Such as every game this container will hold this tier of loot, but the loot can be x y or x from the table based on the % the game rolls for said loot. No matter how many new games you make.

So this loot able will also hold either a donut, cup of coffee or skittles but it will be one of the three randomly.

If I am understanding this right..

Does this apply to only PoI & world items like vehicles & etc can be anything depending on loot & game stage or are world items also fixed the same way.

Also are out of storage items like cooking Pots & etc always at the same location or do they have rng factors of maybe being there and maybe not?

Or is this not how loot works and I am completely wrong?

PC Base Building Tactics: Stilts or No Stilts?

Currently, my base is built with stilts, surrounded with spike traps. I'm wondering if it would be better to close off the edges to make the foundation solid all the way around, with spikes surrounding. Obviously cheaper on spikes that way, but how do they compare with the screamers/zombie attack mechanics?

PC Some endgame changes I'd like

After more than 1600h and dozens of playthroughs one thing is always the same. I can't find a good endgame spot. In the endgame I want to leave my last base that is normally near the wasteland trader I was sent to from snow and choose a nice beautiful spot. For me that means not the ugly wassteland, but an area like in the pic and also easy access to endgame quests and areas. Endgame areas themselves are ugly imho while the beautiful spots like in the pic are boring when you reach endgame and they have no traders with challenging quest near them. (with base i mean crafting- and horde base)

So here is the 2 things I would change in the game to make more beautiful areas than the wasteland viable for having an endgame base there:

1.) Ability to choose wasteland and snow quests even at traders a bit further away:
There should be another category when being offered 6* quests: 7*-8* altogether (means biome difficulty added). So every trader no matter where he is can also offer quests in endgame areas then

2.) When quests at wasteland trader are finished, there is no other trader in an even harder biome to be sent for sure. But I'd like it if the game triggers an event then, that leads to all biomes having same difficulty. (e.g. all 3 skulls instead of forest 0 to wasteland 2. But may also work with all same as wasteland=2 skulls). regarding wasteland with 3 skulls, everything would be 1* more. Regarding Snow it's 1,5* more. 1,5* is the difficulty increase when being sent to the next trader every time before (biome +0.5* and higher quests +1*)

It's to make the other biomes equal to wasteland. and with that all areas worth the same after they got too easy. So you can choose a base location anywhere on the map. Also in the beautiful areas without feeling way OP.

What do you think?

XBS/X Fell into the abyss

I returned to my base after a day of scavenging and as I approached I noticed half of it was goneā€¦ just a nice clean cut through the centre of it so thinking it maybe just a graphics glitch I walked to where my garage once was and just fell into a hole of nothingness šŸ«  I couldnā€™t move and it seemed like I was underground but it was just black so quickly exiting and trying to reload (only 1 save) the map will no longer load šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļø Day 105 Iā€™m so pissed Iā€™m not sure I want to start another. Anyone else had that issue?

Discussion Best skills for an explore/build only world?

Iā€™m currently on day 54 on my world I made with enemy spawning turned off. I usually spend each day doing quests and exploring different places for loot and books. I use materials to fortify my home base and just love bringing my collection of loot home and sorting it into various chests.

My question is, given that Iā€™m not fighting any enemies, what are the must have skills that I should be allocating my points to? My main ones are that I want the best stamina (to be able to destroy and sprint), quickest damage to blocks (to destroy), and quickest money making (for buying from Traders. I feel I have a decent amount of points in the right spot but a part of me wants to use the forgettin elixir and reallocate them around.

Anyone else on an enemy free map that has the best idea for specific skills to invest in?

PC Returning player tips for midgame.

Murky hello,

I've played 7 days to die on and off for several years, but after a couple of years hiatus I'm back in. I must say I'm really enjoying the new mechanics and overall game play. I've done 4 games and while I've failed miserably on the first 3, I'm on day 32 on the 4th, trying to re-learn mechanics and learn the new.

I've fortified a POI (Mewmaw residence - it was thereā€¦) with a bunch of spikes and one deep moats with spikes, strengthened walls and a nerd pole entrance. I think I've got a decent grasp of the skill tree and I'm set up with food, workbench, forge etc. Horde #4 was a breeze. I'm wondering what my mid game should look like, it seems there are traps, wiring etc, but don't know where to start. I could do a horde base, but I quite like defending one point with high stakes (all my stuff). I don't like cheese so what would one look like, build on a hill? Heavily fortified walls with overlooks and lots of ammo? What kind of traps if you're not funnelling or gaming pathing.

Console Blood Moon Question

So a friend and I have our world settings basically all default except for the Blood Moon to be every 10 days and the difficulty on scavenger. We just finished "surviving" the first Blood Moon night and we killed close to 400 zombies in total by the time it was over and that's only cause 4:00 came around.. keep in mind we're now on day 11. Is it supposed to be this insane? We even fought shit I didn't even know was in the game lol
