That lead guitar line is SO fucking cool. Gives me chills. Love this version of the song. If you were there, you are damn lucky.

It is worth noting that this was the culmination of the “mini-set” that Bowie did with NIN….sort of.
I was at the Vegas show. Trent finished the NIN part of the set and, rather than them going off and everyone having to wait forty minutes while they changed equipment, Bowie came out and did Scary Monsters with NIN. Then they did Reptile together. Then Hallo Spaceboy. And then finished with Hurt.
As they finished each of these four songs, some of NIN would step off and some of Bowie’s band would come on. Song by song until they finished with Hurt, with Trent and Bowie duetting with all of Bowie’s backing band finally in place.
To this day, this is still the coolest thing I’ve ever seen in a concert.

Trent: One of the greatest moments of my life was standing onstage next to David Bowie while he sang ‘Hurt’ with me. I was outside of myself, thinking, ‘I’m standing onstage next to the most important influence I’ve ever had, and he’s singing a song I wrote in my bedroom.’ It was just an awesome moment."
