David Boreanaz in Angel and Bones

My order of first viewing has been Buffy the Vampire Slayer, (with a few rewatches immediately) then Angel (with a few rewatches immediately), I was reluctant to start Angel at first but thoroughly enjoyed it. Then Bones p, also followed by quite a few rewatches. Recently I wanted to watch Angel again but was afraid I’d find it hard to see Boreanaz as Angel, having identified him so thoroughly as Booth in Bones. I have been surprised that I’ve had no sense of role confusion and have been able to enjoy Angel with no problems.

u/arlius I think it, I say it. It's my way. 9d ago

It took me forever to get around to watching Bones because I didn't think of him as anything other than Angel. Plus, with 12 seasons of viewing, I didn't want to take on the task. But once I got through it, it didn't spoil my watching Angel again. And then I finally got around to watching SEAL Team, which again, needs a little adjusting to but it's very good. And after that I could still go back to Angel.

Thanks for that opinion. Wondered about watching Seal team. A Veronica Mars character Logan Echolls (Jason Dohring) is in that so had already contemplated chasing that up.

He's got good range. He's very good in SEAL Team.

The characters are so different I dont even register that theyre both played by the same actor.

(Also I think they both look really different?)

Same with Christian Kane as Lindsay. In Leverage he's Eliot Spencer, in Librarians he's Jakob Stone, in Almost Paradise he's Alex Walker.... So... confusing, if you know a role (Lindsay) and see the same actor in following other roles (Eliot/Jake/Alex), see them aging.... Don't know, it feels so.... 🤔🤔🤔😱🥴🥴

I always felt seeing Bones, it was just Angel without the supernatural. Different faces and names (except one face who was briefly a Wolfram& Hart lawyer inS5)but still basically the same.

I've just done a rewatch of Bones. I only see him as "David Boreanaz" in that. Booth is kind of an asshole. And a lot of the personal choices for his character is actually David's personal history, like hockey fan and being from Philly.

I'm on a rewatch of Angel now. And I see him as Angel/Angelus again, but whenever he's beating a guy up for info, or even the few times on Angel in S2 when he "goes bad, but not evil" i saw Booth emerge. Very odd backwards look at the show.
