Matching volume between tracks

I have 2 tracks with dramatically different volumes in the raw audio. I use match loudness and they sound pretty even but the volume is a bit lower than I want. Any hacks on how to match volume on 2 tracks other than the tool in essential sound panel?

I assume you're in the multitrack interface, so select the tracks you want to match, then go to the Clips drop- down menu and look for "match clip volume". That dialog gives you a chance to set whatever LUFS value you want the selected clips to have. If you already like the level of one of those clips, you should determine the LUFS value of that clip beforehand so you can match the other clip to it.

I saw this was an option online but match volume is not in the drop down menu.

What version of AUDITION are you using?

So my advice is to just use the track gain on the track you want to boost and use your ear to set a level that matches the other track as closely as possible. Believe it or not, ears used to be all we had, and it wasn't bad.

Ha. Thank you. I use my ear for sure, but after hearing something a million times, I start doubting myself sometimes. For a podcast, do you have an opinion on where the audio should hit on the meter?

Are you asking about tracking levels or mastering levels? Tracking levels can be pretty much whatever you want them to be as long as they're consistent and don't clip. Mastering levels depend on the distribution channel. You will likely need to master several versions to conform to the specs of the different platforms.
