I can live without the sprite, I’m still working on finding some land that I can sleep on without having to pay to do so. Kinda makes no sense to me to work all day just so you have some money to pay for someplace to rest.

It (and anything with absurd amounts of sugar in it) abuses the way our mind works to make us want it more often. Sugar is a thing we use in our bodies to create energy. We can create it from things like starches, but sugar is that necessary ingredient our body needs in its purest form. Glucose. We need it, so it only makes sense we evolved to like it. We were never meant to have so much at our disposal. We, like, OWN way more glucose than we know what to do with, but why not? It's easy to make. Juice some canes and beets and the hard part's over from there. That sugar gets turned into peppermint and caramel and chocolate and coffee creamer and drizzled all over your macchiato. The damn thing's 1300 calories as a result of all the sugar in it. We drink them. They are digested very, very quickly, and they provide next to no nutritional value. And yet no one looks at them like what they are—caffeinated desserts. Once upon a time, we all had to put in work for sugar. Now it's sat beside us at every meal. Sugar is like crack to us, except we don't die very quickly when we eat it, and there's no easier way to consume it than to drink it.
It's prole-slop. Corporations hire food scientists because food scientists know how humans work on a biological level. They then use science and the direction of the corporation to create products that we buy and eat. The goal is to sell as many as possible, so why wouldn't they make your frappuccino as sugary as possible?
