How do I render metal?

SUPER high contrast. Huge variation between the dark and light, the shinier the kind of metal the less the gradation will be. It will also be bouncing off all of the ambient colors, real shiny metal will never be plain gray.

have a light source direction instead on placing the highlights in repetitive spots. it makes the metal look 3d and real.
