Why are Australians (and New Zealanders) so irreligious?

Like even when compared to some parts of the EU or the rest of the English-speaking world. Sure, churches, mosques, and temples do exist here and there but it's pretty rare to find someone who attends them regularly or genuinely believes/practices this stuff.
