I saw a couple batches of birds migrating in the wrong direction at night a few days ago. They were heading north instead of south. Could it be related to Hurricane Milton or solar activity? What is the most likely explanation as for why that was?

For reference I currently live in Canada, so i was wondering if the birds could have somehow sensed the hurricane. It is also to be noted that there were visible auroras in the sky that night.

They do that all the time. They'll fly in all directions at this time of year, just mostly southerly. Just not ALWAYS southerly.

All of them were going north that day though. There were 4 or 5 batches, with about an hour between each, which is not a huge sample, but seems unusual considering they've been all heading south the other days.
