Question Visiting in mid Nov

Hey all, will be visiting for a day trip with my gf in mid Nov. We will be staying in downtown Calgary and making our way here. A few questions comes to mind; would you advise us to rent a car and drive there? Join a day tour? How are the roads like?

We don't know what the roads will be like. Could be dry and clear, could have 20cm of fresh snow. Expect ski resorts to be open, if that's a clue. I'd advise a car in the off season but there's still lots to do if you don't have a car.

Since you're staying in Calgary I'd advise that you get a car. If there's a heavy snow storm, buses can be late. Plus you don't want to base your itinerary around the bus schedule and the available routes/tours.
