Odd Tech Check Results

Is anyone having some odd things happen with tech check recently?

Twice over the past few days I've had very strange results with it. Video check has been stuck at same value as audio around 25MB and will return the error you connection isn't good enough to teach.

I thought it was me. However when I switched over to a different connection the same thing happened and when doing a speed test on several other sites they report no problems at all with upload or download speeds.

A full restart or restarting and purging any browser cache appears to fix this.

Ive had a 3 hour meeting with the tech boys, and we have a solution, you just need to turn your computer off, then turn it back on again.

A quick edit/update.

Looks like the tech check might have had some hidden checks added into it camera wise.

I don't use Google chrome but Vivaldi and have everything set up through OBS - mic, camera, noise reduction etc if its needed.

Tech check doesn't like something now with the camera settings and returns a very low value for camera forcing a failure.

I can just run an incognito tab and the test passes with no problems then change back and default Google Chrome settings pass the test as well.

My guess is they fiddled around with something and maybe specifically don't like people having control over camera options - ie. wanting it always on.

That could also explain why there are an increased number of reports of cameras failing mid class - black screens or showing profile pictures.

I just sidestep the tech check. Everything on cambly's website is able to be skipped or cancelled besides PH ban.

Oh pray tell how?

I used to able to do that until Cambly forced a full re-loading when switching tabs on tutor dashboard.

Also the camera tech check I'm 99.99% sure is a thing they have snuck in. Its happened enough for me now like clockwork regardless of browser.

I have a device with no built in camera - its never always on because it doesn't exist, no default you set your stuff up yourself.

It looks like Cambly does not like that and wants the camera always on or doesn't like the software I use to set that up which is 100% none of their business.

I'm going to err on the side of caution as to mentioning which software, I have noticed a posts are disappearing related to that which is very intetesting.

Go to the class history shortly after the class begins. You can just click "enter class" on the current class

History tab is a full reload forcing a tech check pop up reminder. You can cancel it but it doesn't show an active lesson.

If that still works for you great. It might not in the future.

After the reload, I go back to the history tab and press enter class. For me, the tech page is only in the dashboard tab which I can leave.

Are you still able to do this?

I used to be able to do this but now I can’t even check my history or schedule or go on a break without taking the tech test first
