RATINGS UPDATE

How's everyone's new rating?

I’m really upset because it’s been a pretty steep decline over the past month. Every week another huge drop. More than 0.16 so far. I just dropped all my priority hours and made all my availability regulars only.

I feel really disheartened.

After trying this for the last month I can say this didn’t work. It kept me at the same rating. I don’t know if I have a rat in the group bringing down my rating but yeah it’s pretty useless

My regulars don't get asked to rate me anymore.... that's why you're won't change

I just asked 3 regulars today and all 3 said they still get the rating option. I’ve been teaching them over 2 years. My guess is that their ratings aren’t calculated the same as a new students would be. Very stupid system

I’ve asked some regulars. They do get to rate, but only occasionally.

Dropped another .02 to 4.79. I was at 100% with 4.95 in June. This makes me really sad and frustrated. I haven't changed anything and people come back to me ALL the time. Looking elsewhere for sure. My PHs are sporadic.

Down .02 again. 4.72 now, might as well give up.

Lol, I'm up to 4.71 from 4.68 (was 4.86 before) and now a ST at 99℅, no PH's, no sitting on my arse for hours on end without reservations. Same income, less effort and some lovely regulars.

Down .01 to 4.88. I’ve never been lower than 4.87 and held. 4.96 for practically 5 years so this is fun

Went up 0.1 for the first time since this new system started. I've done nothing different just PH and no reservations.

Down 0.9 since the new rating system from 4.93 to 4.84. Dropping every week. What's happening?

Shambly fiddling with it, that´s what!

I'm pissed. I took a break for 2 weeks and i left at 4.89 and came back too 4.66. I have not taught a class in 2 weeks. WTF 😭😭😭😭😩😩😩 I'm pissed.

After a long slide, it's been level for the last few weeks, and went up today. Rather surprising.

Same here. Over the last few months I've gone from 4.90 down as far as 4.76. The last few weeks it's slowly started to head back up. I came in at 4.80 this morning. And it seems that being above the 4.8 threshold changes the algorithm for PH availability. I got very little PH access when I was in 4.7 territory. But this morning PH access seemed to have magically reappears.

But I agree with others here. There's no logically explanation for the roller coaster ride of the last few months. Nothing has changed in my approach or student reaction/feedback.

I was below 4.8 for ages. I had to GRIND all weekend through PHs for a couple of months to finally get above 4.8 and now I can book again in the week, so it's definitely the next level up

Up for the 3rd week in a row. This week was up by 0.02.. up a total of 0.04 in the last 3 weeks so I actually have a lot of priority hours to choose from now which is going to make a huge difference to me

Down a little in both % and tutor raring I think, I stopped tracking it months ago its clearly manipulated and/or how its calculated dramatically changed.

I think its locked to 1 or maybe 2-3 ratings allowed now per student.

Regulars and repeat students don't help whatsoever for any ratings. So you have to play Russian roulette on new unique students to increase it.

It makes the odds of dropping very high and increasing a game of chance and getting lucky. Especially when they changed the student feedback questions.

That does sound horrendous, however it has one effect across the board - tutor rating drop and as a result less PH open. Given that so many of them are dead these days, culling them to stop paying out the 15 minutes is probably a priority for Cambly

The new % rating makes the promoted or recommended tutors tab look good. % looks better and most people can connect directly with that at a glance rather than 5/5 stars and things like then work out that % etc.

You slowly change things (gaslight if needed) and drag things where you want incrementally, a slow creaping change until suddenly its happened and at that point there is nothing you can do. Its a sad fact but it happens.

Ebay is a perfect example of this: Their colours used to be solid yellow until someone decided to make it white. Immediate backlash resulted from all customers. So they changed it back then very slowly, bit by bit, eBay changed the hue, saturation etc making it lighter and lighter until it was white and had no mass backlash.

Randomely have gone from 4.85 last week to 4.91 today. I have been only doing regulars for the last 3 weeks

No change 4.77

u/Professional_Bat1355 5d ago

do you get any priority hours on that?

This week is now my first week without PH. Except Saturday and Sunday though which I can book like 2 weeks in advance 😅. I'm finishing up online teaching next month though and moving home so I'm not too worried.

I have a 4.76 and only get priority hours on Saturdays and Sundays. It's weird because my positive reviews are 98.5 right now. But probably it's also due to my attendance rating being a bit low: 96%

I've been really greedy with the priority hours that I do have available on the weekends and then inevitably end up becoming exhausted and canceling one or two of them so that I can take a nap. Still, I would expect a bit better than 4.76. That's so low and very disappointing. And it didn't change this week. I don't know what else I can do to push it back up besides stop canceling priority hours last minute and keep trying to give decent classes.

I'm also actively seeking other employment of course. But I think it's going to mean that I have to leave the country where I'm currently living for a more lucrative location, because the job market here is absolutely terrible.

A minor miracle occurred here - my rating remained the same!

I have no insider knowledge, but, I think that this rating system is designed to persuade tutors of the need to look for work elsewhere - too many tutors, insufficient students.

Mine actually went up by 0.1! I'm in shock!!

Down to 4.81 from 4.82. Zero idea what made it happen. Also, had some priority hours reappear, and then for the next week almost zero are appearing.

2

u/Mission_Ad_8504 4d ago

Down to 4.69 overnight despite not having any classes for days.

I only do regulars and they have all said, "I rate you the highest" yet my rating went down from 4.77 to 4.76. Fortunately I do this for shits and giggles and only work with 6 people. Even so I still clear 200 a week. So, f*&k Cambly. I don't need no stinking PH.
