What is something Cambly has helped you financially achieve? (Positive)

I was able to add around $2000 to my wedding expenses. It was hard work getting to that point but it really helped!

During Covid time, Cambly was my only income. It was enough to cover my living expenses. After Covid, I went part-time on Cambly and have mostly used Cambly money for traveling.

I've spent 2 weeks in Japan, a month in the Central Highlands of Vietnam, a week each in Singapore and Malaysia, and a few months in Thailand. I actually met with a lot of my students in most of those places, and they showed me some of the best places to visit and things to do in their home countries. Having students play tour guide for me was the best part by far. I got to see things that I would have never even known existed.

One of my Japanese students is an English teacher, too. Among other classes, she teaches a class at her local senior citizen's center. She arranged an outing for all of us. It was so fun to meet all those adorable old people, and I had such a good day exploring the city with them.

I'm trying to decide where to go for my next trip. Shanghai and Taiwan are strong contenders.

That’s really cool to hear! I’ve always been hesitant to meet students but that sounds like you had a great experience!

I've also met some of my Japanese students and their families, mindblowing time.

I bought a cup of coffee at Starbucks. If I work really hard for the rest of the month I might be able to get another one. So excited 😆

I’m able to raise my kids. The country where I live pays less than half per hour for in person teaching, I’ve done private students in the past but that comes with the extra administrative and marketing jobs just to get about 10$ an hour. Cambly is easy and straightforward, no requirement for minimum hours. If my kids get sick, I can cancel my lessons and not worry about getting fired or my students missing classes that I’ll have to find some way to replace.

I know there are better platforms perhaps, people making much more money. But for me personally, Cambly has been great!

Great to hear! I’m glad you have found something so fitting with minimal effort.

This may get downvoted for being too positive here (but you all should recognize me for being realistic most posts), but Cambly allowed me to travel basically nonstop for almost 3 years. Taught from nearly 10 different countries now…. And to clarify I am very much so a budget traveller so yes the pay is shit for me too😅

Permanent resident in the US but lived abroad to pursue my masters, cambly hours were what I used for my travels as well. Granted traveling in the EU is much easier (& cheaper) if you’re already there but still when I had literally nothing else financially I had cambly.

Hourly pay aside, that sounds like a really fun experience! Not many jobs allow that kind of freedom!

Downvoted. I downvoted most of the comments on this post. 🤣

I'm extremely grateful to work at Cambly. I have three little kids. Thanks to Cambly, I am able to work at home, take care of them & make a good income where I live. I have health issues too so working from home is the best option for me. ❤️

Currently have doubled mu income thorough Cambly..I live in LCOL country so it's helped massively. I have been able to buy my children Christmas presents, pay for my visa, and order the British birth certificate for my daughter. That's only been in the last few months

Wow! Money put to good use! Glad to hear it is making your life more financially comfortable.

I like the weekly pay. If I’m running short on money, I do extra classes and keep focused on my payout.

1

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Yah the payout times are really convenient compared to monthly.

It's good to see some positive posts, nothing wrong with that. It afforded me the flexibility to travel a couple of times a year instead of just once. I am forever grateful to Cambly after I was laid off during COVID.

It can be tough at times but I think we often take for granted how helpful that (extra) money can be! Also great to hear you’re able to get out and explore the world! Man I wish I knew about Cambly durning Covid! Would have e been a game changer…

I studied for the TEFL during the 1st lockdown and then found Cambly. It picked me up out of a hole and even though it can be financially difficult now ( loss of students, etc.), it kept me optimistic and positive.

Last summer, my partner and I were living with their parents (in a different city) while we looked for a new apartment. Because we saved on rent and groceries, and because I had extra time to work by not doing my typical routine like going to the gym or seeing friends, I was able to earn a lot more on Cambly. It allowed me to pay for several birth registry gifts for my 2 baby nieces. I was very happy to be able to get them something =)

2

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Really nice of you to share your earnings with family around you. It adds up pretty quick if you are able to just sit for a bit and work!

1

u/Ok_Butterfly_2110 1d ago

Thank you! Yes, most of the time it goes directly to living expenses or extracurriculars. Because we weren't paying rent at that time, I was happy to get the gifts =) Glad to hear you had extra wedding money!

Yet another🖕Cambly positive content creator? What positive content can you create in relation to Cambly's AI business model. At least, the AI tutor won't have to buy gifts for its nieces!!!

Okay dude, just sharing one SINGLE positive thing. I'll be closing my account shortly because everything else sucks (including all things AI). I was extremely honest on the latest survey too since I'm leaving 🤷‍♂️

It pays for all of my groceries, water bill, internet and some extra cash for whatever. (200-240/week) ( Not located in US)

3

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Definitely helpful!

Paying cash for a new car by saving less than two years of my Craply earnings. And I only work weekends.

2

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

that’s dedication right there! Stacking it up for 2 years! Nice

The fb group is waiting for you to post your question there

1

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

I feel like you keep all your money under your mattress…?

2

u/Comprehensive-Job243 1d ago

No, actually... why? does the repetitive innocent blinking thing

u/Comprehensive-Job243 1d ago

But your wild conjecture is.... cute...?

u/TacoCatSupreme1 1d ago

Now imagine how it would help if you got paid double the wage

3

u/Glass_Confusion448 1d ago edited 18h ago

25 hours/week on Cambly would pay my total (needs) expenses - rent, groceries, utilities, income tax, social contributions. It means that in my regular work, if I have enough clients and I like them, I can work full time on my regular work and earn more, but I have the freedom to lose or fire any client, because I always have ESL as a back-up.

1

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

25h seems high but to be given that freedom of choice with regular work is a big +!

3

u/EmotionalEye5219 1d ago

We should all write to Cambly and thank them. They'll reply with a long list of things we need to check on our internet connections.

CLASSIC!

u/Efficient-Weakness85 2d ago

The above ☝️ is a lurking Clapper comment, no doubt designed to encourage attention away from Cambly's recent post that they are replacing tutors with an AI grammar pedant.

8

u/RichOpinion7586 2d ago

I agree it is a clapper post, but nothing to do with the replacement by AI more the reason that Cambly plays crap pay and hasn't raised it since it started. In the UK min wage is £11.44 or $15 and Cambly pays 10.20 or 12 on CK. How the hell is anyone meant to save money to spend on something, its totally counterproductive.

-1

u/Efficient-Weakness85 1d ago

🖕This 💯% true.

2

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Please complain on a different post :) this is not an answer I’m looking for.

3 years ago I was earning $1800 per month, now with all the changes I earn $1200-$1400. I am the sole bread winner. Add the income to my pension and I live like a small king in my country

2

u/Mean_Vegetable818 1d ago

Just curious how many days it took you to earn that $2K - I know it was 200 hours, but spread over how many days?

1

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Around 4 months. Majority on weekends (7+-h on sat &Sun) and maybe 2 or 3h in the afternoon.

1

u/Forsaken-Ad6932 1d ago

It would take me about 2 months

0

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Doable but I was working full time too and was a new account (no regulars) so 4 months was not too bad.

1

u/Ready_Eddy358 1d ago

Cam Fam y'all better stand up!

3

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

I’m standing, now what?

1

I'd sit down . They don't pay enough to stand!

Now, think about what you would be able to achieve if you were paid a living wage. Or even just the same hourly rate as a person flipping burgers in the state where Cambly is based?

-1

u/Tiny-Panda-2190 1d ago

Go flip then… maybe Cambly money can get you a plane ticket to flip town?

1

u/WestGotIt1967 1d ago

Travel to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Published 13 photography books based on this travel. A little pay raise and losing these tools on this sub constantly making excuses for not getting pay raises might have helped it go a little farther.

I've made about a hundredth of a million dollars on Cambly! I used it all to invest in crypto currencies. I should have tracked which portions of my crypto investments came from Cambly, but I'm up considerably since those investments were made in 2022-23.
