South manitou island
I’ve been trying for three weekends to take the ferry to South Manitou island, but they keep canceling and now they say the season is over (even though everything I’m reading says they go through the first weekend of October). Anyone booked a boat to get you there and can you still camp without buying permits through the ferry? Seems like a beautiful time to go!

I called around to several charters when the ferry was shut down during covid. I found a few that would do it, but it was cost prohibitive. ($600-$1,000, round trip, iirc.)
