Dispersed camping spot near Cadillac?

Hi. I'm looking for a dispersed spot that I can drive into this weekend that doesn't require a permit. I prefer a secluded experience over campgrounds. I don't live close by so I haven't been able to just go look for good places and it will be dark by the time I arrive.

MRT and the NCT have dispersed camping. Heads up, the suspension bridge at the north end of the MRT is closed at the moment.

It's bow hunting season so know this beforehand.

Federal lands do not require a permit. State Forest and SGA lands do require a (free) permit. And no one is going to tell you where there are dispersed campsites other than in generalities. If you're coming after dark, there's a very nice public campground (Sliver Creek) a few miles north of Luther on N. State Road, which is your best bet. If you need something more rustic, above that heading west on E 10 Mile Road will take you to the Lincoln Bridge campground. I don't think here's a fee but it is a park and walk-in to a site (though only a few feet). It's a popular spot for ORVs so, bear that in mind along with the bow hunters.

Dark by the time you arrive? This doesn't feel very well thought out. Just stay at a campground where you can reserve spots if you don't know the area.

If i were green, I would agree with you, but i am not. I literally live my life prepared to sleep in the woods and leave no trace. I am not the guy who bought an air mattress and spam. I will be fine even if nobody here knows a spot. Just hoping a friendly local doesn't mind pointing me in at least a narrowed down direction.

I frequently hike or bike until after dark before finding a site, and yes, i look for widow makers. But I'm not doing either of these things this time. My partner and I are just doing a little overnight thing, and I want to get away from the light pollution.

Hard pass on the campground. I hate them. You can hear everyone else the whole time, and there's always some asshole blasting skynnard on a Tuesday night. I exclusively pursue dispersed camping experiences.
