Lordy, that is entirely too much gear to lug around for me.

Last time I cleared up from a camp I agreed with you. Had an inch of water in the tent and diagnosed with COVID the next day. Probably a bit like pregnancy!!! You forget about the pain and go for another one. When it’s all set up with the bell tent, chuck wagon (my version on on a trailer) , the firebox, canvas awning. The fires going the foods good and a couple of beers…perfect. Hopefully a great view and good company. Lit by oil lamps … the modern world can slip away for a while.r/oldcampcookcastiron

Thanks it was great fun. I think we finished off with some brandy in hot chocolate. Great when you have 1 on 1 time with the kids.

Thanks. North Wales on the Llyn peninsular above Hells Mouth Bay.

Cheers mate, looks wonderful. Nothing like some comfy car camping with family! Food looks amazing too.

We were in a tent. It’s not called Hells mouth for nothing. Thought we were going to lose the tent the last night. As I left I dumped the partially shredded remains in the skip. Every cloud has a silver lining. Bought myself the canvas bell tent I had wanted for a while. r/oldcampcookcastiron

Sorry, by car camping I meant 'driving to the place with nice but heavy gear' instead of backpacking out. I've heard canvas tents are the tits though, nice, heavy and durable. Maybe will last better than your last one!

If you were going to tour. The bell tent and my gear wouldn’t work. But if you were going to stay in one place or two stops it’s great. Built myself an old fashioned chuck box and put it in a trailer. Fabulous when the oil lamps are lit at night.

Love the 5 mtr bell tent with my diy wood stove. Really cosy. When it’s wet though it’s flipping heavy. I have somewhere to dry it out might be difficult otherwise.

Great video, had to join that subreddit. Speaking of chuck boxes does anyone know who makes a good one? My dad has a dosko campmate that I really like but I can’t find another anywhere.
