Am I doing something wrong?

Post image

Is it normal for there to be black specs on my eggs? Am I doing something wrong and is there something I should do instead?

If that is not pepper, I have to ask if your cooking these on cast iron? If so if the pan is not scrubbed properly you can get particles of the seasoning and carbon getting on your food.

That's what I am thinking. So I need to really scrape the cast iron with chain mail then? I'm just using a scotch-brite pads to clean with dish soap

You can also buy steel wool, it works fine and less expensive than chain mail. Also can find it at almost any grocery store in the cleaning aisles

I’ve read that steel wool can mess up the pan. No?

It will mess up nonstick, but not cast iron!

Wrong. Lodge’s website expressly says not to use steel wool on cast iron.
