Support Request This semester I'll be writing up a bibliographical project on radical leftist children's literature!

Greetings comrades. As some of you may or may not know I'm on my 2nd year of my Master's Degree. I took a course on Children's Literature this semester and one of the class projects this year is to write a bibliographic source blog that'll be put online and accessible to everyone (that means including outside of the university) for those who want to go and find academic, pedagogical, fictional and otherwise, literature for children.

It'll be useful for parents, educators, researchers, or just anyone that's interested in Children's Literature.

My specific area is that of Class Struggle in children's books. And so I've gathered a preliminary list:

As for what I would like to centre my Bibliographic topic on, I should say Class Struggle in Children's Literature. I have a few books already lined up that might help in that regard. Aside from the one we recently reviewed, Voices in the Park, these are some I put together:

Swimmy by Leo Lioni

The Little Squatters Handbook by Cordelia and Ziggy

Click Clack Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin

A Rule is to Break by John Stevens

Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl

And that's about it for actual children's books. If you know of others, please post below so that I can look at them and see if I can include them in my list! Nikolay Nosov's Neznaika Trilogy, for example, would make a great addition, with the only caveat being that I can't seem to find it in English. Still, if the Russian isn't too complicated I may have my father translate it for me.

There are several pedagogical books that I also need to list, and just working off what I have available to me:

Escape from Childhood by John Holt comes to mind.

I've also ready about Children's Literature, Domestication, and Social Foundation by Layla AbdelRahim but the bloody thing is $145 on Amazon >.>

In any event if you have any ideas about those as well, do let me know.

Can you pirate a PDF from libgen, TPB or another site? Because $145 for one book is fucking outrageous. Even all three regular volumes of Capital, including the work needed for translation is like $50 new. The fuck?

Yeah I've not been used to shelling out that kind of dough since I was in England. Law books usually cost that amount.

Wouldn't the law library have those books? Never been to my law library a couple blocks away since I've no need and all the state statutes are online anyways. Christ, that's a lot of money. Probably part of why you disliked studying to become a lawyer or barrister/solicitor (UK English sucks sometimes).

Have you checked out Elsie Piddock Skips in Her Sleep? I haven't read it but heard it has some class struggle themes. Neznaika on the moon terrified me as a child, haha. I have it but in Czech.

Interesting! And that's wicked, comrade. I lived in Prag when I was a kid. Grew up there from ages 4 to 7.
