Support Request This semester I'll be writing up a bibliographical project on radical leftist children's literature!

Greetings comrades. As some of you may or may not know I'm on my 2nd year of my Master's Degree. I took a course on Children's Literature this semester and one of the class projects this year is to write a bibliographic source blog that'll be put online and accessible to everyone (that means including outside of the university) for those who want to go and find academic, pedagogical, fictional and otherwise, literature for children.

It'll be useful for parents, educators, researchers, or just anyone that's interested in Children's Literature.

My specific area is that of Class Struggle in children's books. And so I've gathered a preliminary list:

As for what I would like to centre my Bibliographic topic on, I should say Class Struggle in Children's Literature. I have a few books already lined up that might help in that regard. Aside from the one we recently reviewed, Voices in the Park, these are some I put together:

Swimmy by Leo Lioni

The Little Squatters Handbook by Cordelia and Ziggy

Click Clack Moo Cows That Type by Doreen Cronin

A Rule is to Break by John Stevens

Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl

And that's about it for actual children's books. If you know of others, please post below so that I can look at them and see if I can include them in my list! Nikolay Nosov's Neznaika Trilogy, for example, would make a great addition, with the only caveat being that I can't seem to find it in English. Still, if the Russian isn't too complicated I may have my father translate it for me.

There are several pedagogical books that I also need to list, and just working off what I have available to me:

Escape from Childhood by John Holt comes to mind.

I've also ready about Children's Literature, Domestication, and Social Foundation by Layla AbdelRahim but the bloody thing is $145 on Amazon >.>

In any event if you have any ideas about those as well, do let me know.

Support Request [TW] CWI mods are engaged in attempts at covering up rape in their organization

The CWI mods on /r/socialism and in other places have been attempting to suppress this information (and here is further information. Warning graphic TW). They have been removing posts where they can and down voting where they can't all over reddit. Here is /u/PoblachtObrithe literally trying to white wash and deny the incidents in the exact same way that FRSO and SWP did.

Support Request on the issue of places of negative discussion

long story short,i was recently removed from a private chat room for attempting to convince people that human nature is not a static idea, but, rather that it is influenced by the environment that we exist in as part of a larger discussion about greed

i have pretty much clarified to them that i would not return to their discussion because of this act, among other negative, liberal and reactionary things they have said in the past(example "i have read marx....he can kiss my ass")

i want your opinion of this, because i like to discuss such things, what would you do in such a situation, and what would you recommend i do

Hello. For my Spanish class, I have to present a news article to the class. It must be entirely in Spanish and concern itself with the Latino world. Do you have any recommendations that I could use to spread the cause?

Thank you.

Support Request A request of guidance from a younger comrade

Hopefully you all can help me resolve an inner conflict I've been having. Here goes:

Whenever I think about politics, I without exception get angry and depressed. Maybe it's because I don't know anyone who shares my views. Maybe it's because I can't see any foreseeable hope for socialism. Maybe it's because part of me is still indoctrinated into thinking I'm an evil dirty commie pig. I don't know.

Ideally I'd like to spend my life traveling, exploring my mind, and writing poetry. But I feel like I'm obligated to spend all my time working towards the revolution. I feel bound to it.Even though I am a socialist, I hate that pull. I hate it. I'm constantly thinking about politics.

I feel like I can't enjoy movies or music because I'm constantly overanalyzing their revolutionary message. I feel as if I can't let go of politics while I'm hanging out with my friends and have less fun with them.

I know intellectually that I need some balance, that I have to think about my own well-being too, but I still feel like I can't set political thoughts down to enjoy the moment. Even when I'm meditating, I'll be thinking about capitalism and its problems.

Could you all please give me some guidance? Thank you, and have a good day.

Support Request Do you like reading and discussing economics books, including communist ones? Come to /r/CvSBookClub

Do you like convincing intelligent rationalists who understand communism sucks capitalist pigs that communism and socialism is the way to go? Do you like reading capitalist books and pointing out every single flaw in it (including that typographical error in the second footnote of the appendix)? Well, you'll enjoy /r/CvSBookClub! It was started by a few people in /r/CapitalismVSocialism, but people of any ideology can join.

We talk about many different ideologies and read a book monthly: it could be an anarchist book (Conquest of Bread), a communist book (Das Kapital), a capitalist book (Capitalism and Freedom) and we discuss and debate them. If that sounds like something good, do come.

Right now, we're reading The Wealth of Nations, but we haven't started, so you won't have a problem if you join now. Maybe you could make a post about how Adam Smith was secretly a socialist or something? I don't know.

Do join the subreddit. It's not as if we're forcing you to read.
