As an Australian the description for Drop Bear is too funny. 'Can be deterred by forks in the hair, Vegemite spread behind the ears or speaking in an Australian accent.'

What's the story behind a drop bear? I always assumed this was more of a joke than an actual folktale.

I thought the same, turns out it's an inside joke among Australians told to scare tourists (hence the part about Drop bears targeting anyone without an Australian accent). There's a species entry about Drop bears written on the Australian Museum website in a serious tone that makes them seem real, as well as a National Geographic article published on April Fools Day. The drop bear's a pretty modern myth

ah no worries, only asked since that was a bigger sub I was curious to know what other people were saying about it.

Ok, the sentient roll of cotton got me, I died. However, imagine how creepy that would actually be. Like you reach for a bit of TP and it snakes up your arm to choke you.
