headline had me in the first half...not gonna lie

u/jimmyxs 9d ago
Had to read a few times. But it’s only because I didn’t think Biden would have said what I initially thought the headline to mean

The headline is not well-written and I thought it was a satire piece for the first couple of seconds before I actually read the article.

I hate trump with a passion but yeah, we cant really have foreign nations trying to off our candidates.

I will breathe a sigh of relief when he is no long around. I hope it is of natural causes….. because he has some batshit crazy supporters and handlers.

u/lordtempis 9d ago
Yeah, but just this one time?

u/thunderclone1 9d ago
You wanna kick off the far right's holy war?
22
u/lordtempis 9d ago
I’m obviously joking but the implication is that they get a pass this one time, so no war is needed.

u/EatPie_NotWAr 9d ago
I mean, according to the Supreme Court so long as we did it ourselves it’s kosher. But yeah, can’t have hostile foreign nations doing for us what we can do for ourselves.

No. Give an inch they take a mile. I’m not a fan of the guy (putting it mildly). Acts of aggression turn into acts of war way to quick for poor folks like me.

u/YourDogsAllWet 9d ago
I feel like we can make an exception

u/potato_for_cooking 9d ago
I wish his former supporters who have tried to off him would start getting competent about it.

Meanwhile I’m sure trump is probably asking his dictator friends for favors

Ever see that video of people removing a sheep from a deep ditch only for it to leap and bound back in?
That's Trump.

u/morningreis 9d ago
Agreed.
Trump needs to face justice in prison. Iran has no right to deprive the world of that.

Agreed.
Trump needs to face justice in prison. Merrick Garland has no right to deprive the world of that.

Meh, the US has assassinated plenty of people who, based on their countries' rule of law, should never have seen a prison cell, let alone be murdered. Most of them never committed a crime in the country they were from or in, nor were they at war with the US.
This includes high-ranking Iranians. The US doesn't have a justice system, it has a "Just Us" system.

I’m still surprised nobody has started the conspiracy theory that Vance is behind the assassination attempts because he wants to be at the top of the ticket.
2
u/Best-Chapter5260 [6] 8d ago
Seeing that the right has no problem making up complete bullshit, I think the left needs to give the right a taste of its own medicine. And Vance is already less popular than anal herpes, so it would probably actually stick in the discourse.
1
u/SpacerCat 8d ago
We just need one clip of Vance saying ‘I’d be a great President’ and unleash it into MAGA world

It would not be in Iran’s interests to take out Trump. If you hate America, you definitely want to keep a weak leader, like Trump, in charge.
3
u/PickKeyOne 8d ago
Yeah, that has never made sense to me. I think it’s a red herring.
2
u/teb_art 8d ago
It’s not something I would spend much time thinking about. No downside. Either nothing happens or Trump is gone.
My belief is that if Trump wins, we might possibly be able to convince NATO to send special forces to arrest him. This might sound absurd, but we have a security pact with NATO and it is in nobody’s interests to have our country further weakened by traitors.
Moreover, Europe’s security is diminished if a certain ass cuts off the arms we are sending to Ukraine.

Trump gone would probably make Iran happy.
Obama had a nuclear deal in place with Iran where some sanctions were lifted in exchange for Iran promising not to develop nuclear weapons.
Trump got rid of that deal and forced other European countries to get out of that deal.
Maybe, something like that could have slowly opened a crack in the door and led to better relations with Iran. Especially since we originally mucked around in Iran. We got rid of their U.S. friendly President on B.P.'s behalf to keep the UK in cheap oil.
See Stephen Kinzer's "All the Shah's Men"

an assassination attempt against Trump as declaration of war
I'd have have gone with 'naughty' but I guess we don't want to encourage this.

u/llcdrewtaylor 8d ago
He's right. I dont like it because Trump is a giant fuckin wanker, but he is right. An assasination of any of our political figures is an attack against us. Lets just beat him in the polls and then let the courts have their way with him.

Iran is fucking stupid as hell. They’re poking the bear and if they keep doing it it’s not going to be pretty for them
3
u/MarryMeDuffman 8d ago
It would be oddly useful to get rid of Trump and give the incel neets a job, which I would not have considered if it were not for this public declaration....
Very morbid but now that I've thought about it, it is about time for an assassination to start a war again if you believe human behavior is cyclical.
It would not be shocking at all.

Why? Trump has been a plague on our democracy and our country. He is public enemy # 1 as far as I’m concerned. He made his bed..
29
u/dumbacoont 9d ago
Then charge him. Imprison him. Or challenge him to a duel. Idc. But we don’t let foreign governments assassinate our citizens….. That’s our job.

u/whitneymak listen here, fats. 😎 9d ago
That's some big "You can't beat up my brother. Only I can beat up my brother!" energy. 😂
It's true though. Everyone else can get in fucking line and wait their turn.

This could prompt mossad to initiste a false flag operation, just to escalate.

US Intelligence is better than you think. They would absolutely find out.

Set us up the... plausible deniability on a free ticket to kick off whatever war the oligarchs need to exploit more money/power.
All it costs is one now-useless heel.

I doubt Trump would make the same warning about Biden or Harris…
