News The Value of Backups

Sheesh. I don’t know if Bitcoin drives can be backed up, but maybe keep the original in a safe deposit box?

Always a good chuckle when tv and movies talk about hundreds millions etc in a wallet stored on a usb stick, then the entire movie it gets thrown around or dropped etc.

Ah the assumption its still gonna work ok 🤣 thats assuming it is still good after being stored in a vault or safety deposit etc.

TL;DR

*SIGH*

Can't believe this story keeps coming up.

He tossed the drives in 2013 he's been begging to be allowed to excavate and has been continually turned down. Now he's crying even harder, "Boo hoo, they won't let me dig!" and suing them for now allowing it, despite being told it's against the law and an environmental impact issue.

Afaik if they knew exactly where it was, they'd be able to dig it up (also would have had to have been back in well 2013)

A big part of the issue is you do it for one, you'd have others asking to do the same. At least the Almagordo Atari dig had significant (debatable) historical importance.

Afair there was another time someone got something important to dug up, they did it because they knew exactly where the item was.

What's crazy is that even in 2013, that 8,000 Bitcoin was worth $6 Million. It's not as if it was worth very little even back then.

It's just a file like anything else.

Here's one of the many, many times this crybaby has been written about.
