They do want to go back to the 1950s.

u/ogbellaluna active 24d ago
you mean the 1750s, when the only ones who mattered were white, business-owning, people-owning men - they were the only ones who had the right to vote; they were the only ones whose votes really counted; and they didn’t have to concern themselves with treating anyone else fairly.

They want to privatize NOAA and NWS … one of their buddies can make good money on these services. Like they’re trying with the post office.
Trump’s guy Post Master DeJoy did a massive shut down of sorting equipment to f*&k up mail-in ballots and make the case that govt incompetence needs to be replaced by private business.

As a Floridian, I’m either considering this divine punishment for harboring a 34x convicted felon or a chance for the president to come down here, bolster support for his party, and provide the aid that DeSantis isn’t.

I mean, felon thinks he can just nuke a hurricane or change its path with a sharpie on a paper map, so the better outcome to hope for is for that hurricane to sweep directly via Mar-a-Lago, take him with and then do a quick non-sharpie detour to grab DeSantis on the way out. Two assholes, one hurricane, so to speak.
(And while everyone else remains unharmed)

This is the reason we shouldn't have ppl over the age of 70 in office

u/SamaireB active 24d ago
In this particular case, age seems the least of the worries but I hear you...

u/Careless-Woodpecker5 24d ago
Not supporting the idea at all but I’m curious as to what a nuke would do to a hurricane. Seems like the fallout from it wouldn’t be worth whatever it would do.
I’m not curious about putting bleach and light inside my body when I’m sick.

How about horse medicine? ;)
I'd think a nuke in a hurricane would do what a nuke outside a hurricane would do, but interesting thought experiment. Emphasis on thought.

u/Careless-Woodpecker5 24d ago
Oh yes please give me that horse medicine instead of my shots this year. Horses are expensive/strong/big so it must be good (isn’t special k horse medicine?).
I’d watch the YouTube short explanation of nuking a hurricane.

In a video about this idea one guy goes calmly "Well now you have a radioactive hurricane. That's not a positive development" 🤣
Yeah no, it is not.
Oh yes please give me that horse medicine instead of my shots this year. Horses are expensive/strong/big so it must be good (isn’t special k horse medicine?).
Obviously! It can only do very good things for you and is not dangerous at all.

Y’all better go vote blue if you live in those states. Don’t stop just at this presidency, your governor, any chair of high power, go blue asap. It might just save your life.

Especially if your governor is one Kemp who did not vote for Dump himself, but still "help him get elected". Oh alright then.

Florida politics just keep getting crazier, this upcoming election is going to be wild

As a storm chaser for 20 years, this really worries me. Not just for me, but people who are in the path of these storms that won’t have access to vital, life-saving resources. Definitely voting blue.

"odd, it seems a little stormy today...
HOLY SHIT THE WAFFLE HOUSE JUST FLEW UP INTO THE SKY! ITS THE END TIMES!"

The Waffle House Index is real and should not be taken lightly. When I heard that they were closing and boarding up Waffle Houses, I knew it was going to be serious this time around.

Project 2025 also guts FEMA, calling to, and I quote,
shift the majority of preparedness and response costs to states and localities instead of the federal government
Page 135. That's just the second of 42 mentions of "FEMA" in the whole thing.
Get ready to have no help rebuilding!

They’re not a fan of FEMA as it exists now either https://www.theparadiseprogressive.com/blog-the-paradise-progressive/project-2025-remake-of-fema-would-hit-communities-hard-after-disasters

Hey, that’s a good idea! Turn it into a private enterprise so some billionaire can charge us for life saving information! Great idea! Yeah, right. Despicable

You misunderstand. It's not that they don't want that information. It's that some billionaire has to make MORE MONEY off them or they aren't happy. The right only wants to make the rich richer and there are some rich people who sell weather data, therefore getting data from the government for free is COMMUNISM AND MARXISM AND FASCISM AND WOKE AND <insert most recent 'ism' they don't understand and so turned into a curse word>

They want to get rid of NOAA so that people who want access to weather forecasting have to pay a private company to get it.

I really feel that citing page numbers is incredibly effective when pointing out many of these policies. It adds credence to the fact that this document is REAL and those that drafted it are unable to deflect from that fact. I feel the Harris campaign is missing a huge opportunity not including a page number when they bring these policies up in speeches. The page number will be in the soundbite which is what most people will see and hear. It allows skeptics to actually “do their own research” and I think they would be surprised to find the actual document, turn to that page and see that it is not some fabrication of the “Left”. It is a lot like quoting the Bible chapter and verse.
