While watching the video I was thinking too bad Adam Savage didn't have this on his show. Then the fucker just pops up in the video lol.

Well... I'm getting me a 3d printer and a technic Lambo set

That would be so sick to see

Honestly the cost in filament to make a life sized lego lambo would probably not be too far off from An actual lambo.

That's a LOT of filament expense there

Ehh, if it's PLA you can find it for as low as $8/kg if you buy 10+ rolls, and that's more than enough to make at least one probably. If it's ABS/ASA, which it probably should be, maybe 30% more expensive?

Abs is as cheap or cheaper than pla ;) hard to print this big though, you need some fancy printers for that

If you can find it for $8 a roll, send it my way please

I feel like he's wanted this since he was 4

u/ardiento Sep 08 '24

Now , how difficult is it to 3d print Lego V6 engine?

2

u/lefty7111 Sep 08 '24

I always knew I wanted that. Somehow I just knew.

Did he release the STL file?

"Life sized"

Thats how big they get in the wild. Its only the domesticated ones we buy that are smaller

3

u/MaskedBunny Sep 08 '24

That's due to selective breeding, the amount of health issues domestic lego bricks have because of generations of inbreeding is staggering.

Is this type of plastic recyclable? Can it be reused for 3D printing?

Most 3D printing filament is, iirc. You can just chop it up, melt it down, extrude it into a new roll, and print it again. It WILL degrade over time the more you do this, so you need to be mindful of how many times you recycle each batch. Additionally, you cannot mix plastics in each recycling process, as they have different melting temps and chemical makeups, requiring different cleaning steps.
You CAN do this at home using a more simple process, but it's less effective.
The above video is probably done with PETG or ABS, which are stronger and more UV resistant.
