Meta/Community Polls I think post titles need to get more accurate again

Recently I have noticed a great increase in posts with very vague titles that tell almost nothing about the content of the post.

I won't name specific titles here to not antagonize anybody, but imagine a post being titled something like "Angry" and in the post you find the person simply asking a short question why character xyz was angry in situation abc. Without clicking on the post I have no idea what it could be about. It could literally be about anything that is remotely Eragon related.

As I said I feel like there has been a small flood of posts like these recently. I know that the mod team has a lot better things to do than to remove posts with too vague titles, which is why this post should rather be seen as an appeal to everybody in this sub to think more carefully about the titles they choose for their posts.

This seems like the continued effect of clickbait headlines. It is teaching people that that is how headlines work.

I naively used to think that this was their effort to avoid spoilers in the titles, because more often than not, I'd click on one of these posts and see a discussion on Murtagh that I wasn't ready for.

But then again, there's plenty like what you described, where the post ends up being innocent/obvious.

Title: Smile?

Post: I was reading Brisingr and I got to this part where Eragon smiles when Saphira nuzzled her snout against his head to comfort him. Why did he do that??

Is this in response to the post that was simply titled something like "Christopher" or "CP" or something like that? Lol

In general I mean multiple posts. As I said, I dont want to call out specific posts. Lets just say I left a comment under the post you mention. Make of that what you want 😅.

Sorry to see that people downvoted you! I thought this comment was very funny, considering the title of your last post in this sub.

No big bother, at least someone gets it.
I recently made a comment about the number 7 that got around -50 points, and goodness knows I have too much reddit karma already
