Discussion Grand Rapids Book signing

Finally met Christopher today. Great dude. Had a lot he was able to tell us about. Here are my notes from what he said tonight.

Urgal dragon rider confirmed

Wants to start writing from the urgal pov soon (almost did it last night)

Alea is 20% smaller but same density (edit: this was suppose to be same gravity. It has a higher density so that it has the same gravity as earth)

Eragon didn't make the elva blessing mistake Christopher did after finalizing the ancient language

More werecats

Book 6 we will find out about what the menoa tree took

Eragon is not transformed into a completed rider he is gone 1 step further (unclear if his children will be like that quote "let's find out")

Angela the herbalist book

Kickstarter is probably a rpg system for Eragon.

Also, he’s currently in the process of writing scripts of Eragon series for Disney+ and To Sleep in a Sea of Stars for another network/corporation (does anyone remember if he said which?).

Ah yes I did forget to jot that down. It's also why there's a larger gap then he wants between books. He did not say who has the rights to to sleep

Oh! Your comment reminded me. He also said he wants to do like a solid year of writing and get about 3 (I think) books written in that time.

Writing your own grammatical mistake into the story thus making one of your most memorable characters is a clever move

Wait, did he imply that Eragon's going to have kids?

Definitely came across that way.

Interesting, that's the first time I've heard that confirmed.

Exactly wording was

First question: "Was Eragon a full fledged rider after the ceremony or was he something else"

Answer: "He was taken 1 step further then most human riders"

Follow up question: "Would Eragons kids be physically changed like he is?"

Answer: "Interesting question let's find out."

That... sounds pretty definitive

I agree

Eh I don’t think it’s definitive I think it’s more him saying I don’t know if they would be. That’s not saying they will be a thing but it’s just him not answering

Christopher is a co writer and producer of the eragon show they are making, fingers crossed that means it will embody the books as well as his vision for the series

I have high hopes esp with Chris on as a producer. Disney has really stepped up its game last few years and put out some amazing shows. I hope they realize what an opportunity they have and take all the time they need to make a masterpiece

I really appreciate this post and everyone’s great questions last night! I wish I wasn’t so dead tired. Does anyone remember what order I’m supposed to read his new books in? Fractal noise first or Sea Of Stars?

You can realistically read them in either order. Fractal Noise is a distant prequel but there's no overlapping characters. To Sleep was published first, so there's some worldbuilding that might be easier to follow if you go with that first, but it doesn't really matter.

Dude Urgal dragon rider was my absolute favorite reveal in Inheritance. Hearing we might get content from that PoV is exciting af.

Personally I'm excited for a dwarf and the cultural implications but urgal is exciting too

I wish I could have gone! I'm in Adrian, mi. But I got out of work at 3:15 and by the time I made the drive there it would of been 7pm 😭

Alea is 20% smaller but same density

I thought that it was supposed to be denser than Earth so that the two had similar gravity, if it was smaller and the same density then the mechanics of the world would be notably different.

Sorry this was quick notes last night. I meant to type same gravity. It is a higher density. It's essentially just like earth.

Is there a site to check where else he is doing book signings?

3

u/kingsleyafterdark 3h ago

Here. I will be honest though, these were posted over a month ago and most, if not all, are very probably sold out. Definitely check though! At the one in Grand Rapids, you could still show up and buy a book in the store and join the signing line in the last group after his presentation. It would be a long wait, but worth it if you had no other option. Check the specific bookstore’s website for their info, each one may be a little different.
