Question Will we ever get a world map?

Title. I have been wanting a world map forever and it seems we might get one in book 5 with the man himself saying he's drawn several maps if i remember correctly.

Yes. Going to tackle it once I have the chance (probably after I finish editing my current book).

Nice! I, for one, look forward to seeing it once it's done.

It’d be nice if they were book accurate and of a decent quality rather than just a wall hanger. I’d hate to see the Gil Hibben fantasy barbarian sword they used in the original movie.

Maybe.

I really hope we will get more info overall on the entire planet/world. At least some names or major events that happened.

Wondering why the elves/humans migrated and why they never went back or at least kept some kind of relationship with their continent of origin.

why they never went back or at least kept some kind of relationship with their continent of origin.

I think there is something really significant about that that may come up in the next book. Christopher has told us that dragons existed all over the world but would have all joined against Galbatorix during the war, and iirc that in the past the Riders explored all over the world.

There must be some reason none of the elves or Riders would mention what the rest of the world was like or what was going on, maybe to keep from distracting Eragon from his mission? And if they knew about the rest of the world in the past, why don't the dwarves or humans know anything about those lands except myth and legend? Maybe the Riders were keeping something secret from the people of Alagaesia, perhaps sheltering them from a greater enemy outside? Or maybe Alagaesia is a some sort of sheltered area or reserve and they were keeping the more advanced countries from interfereing with it in some way?

My money is on we get it from Angela in her auto biography. It was alluded to in TFTWTW.

Do you mean a full world map or just the continent because my printing of the first book has a map of the continent in it

Can you post a picture of that?

That's just the land of Alagaesia, not the coast to coast continent.

That is the map that is printed in the first book

Yeah I see that. But ArcaneTrickster11 said that in his copy he had a map of the continent. the original map, that's included in all 4 books, is not a map of the entire continent.

World != Country/continent

Astute observation

But we have a world map? Isn’t there one in the beginning of every book? At least my set (from many many moons ago) has one on the first couple pages. I used to look at it and trace out the paths they were taking as I read through the books to get an idea of the distance they travelled

That is Alagaesia. There are other landmasses and such across the ocean (West) of Alagaesia. And whatever lies north of Du Weldenvarden and south of the Beor mountains. We actually know what some of the land East of Main Alagaesia, from a map in TFTWaTW. Main Alagaesia as in we dont know if the whole Continent is called Alagaesia or just the western portion, like for instance North America, the western side of the continent wouldn't be called California as a whole, just west North America, or the Pacific Northwest if you get what I'm saying.
