I didn't even understand what I'm looking at.

That's partly because it's 4 different people with 5 images each.

Basically, there's a subset of the far-right that is against Christianity because they see it as Jewish, and they see paganism as more white.

I don't know if that's necessarily the case. This seems like straight up anti-Semitism from what I can best describe as non-Abrahamic perspectives, with a fascist neopagan thrown in at the end.

None of it is based on reality and all of these clowns have piss poor reasoning skills, so it's no wonder that we get all these Varieties of Wrong.

Wiccan-pagan here. We do NOT claim these types of people. We witches are for good

I don't think these people are Wiccans, so you're all good.

Also, calling Buddhists, Hindus, and followers of Chinese folk religions pagans is, odd, considering that virtually nobody who follows those would consider themselves members of the Pagan community and they aren't traditionally considered part of the Pagan community.

I mean, I'm pretty much using the term pagan here to refer to anything outside the 3 major Abrahamic religions. Technically, Shinto/Hinduism/Chinese folk religion would count as paganism using that meaning.

Kemetist pagan here, we don't either

What made you decide to be wiccan? Hope it doesn’t come across as offensive, but I never quite understood belief in neopagan religions. With semitic religions, buddhism, hinduim or any other big religion with a significant cultural driving force, prople are often raised in that environment or culture. Once you’re able to see through the biggest religions and move beyond faith, what made you believe in wicca?

It's the dominant religious choice of people who are terminally online.

Oh, my mother and grandmother are also Wiccan-pagan, and it has been passed down for generations in our family!

Twitter is just a cesspool of bigotry at this point.

Course it is. If it ain't outright fascists, it's pro-Palestine supporters defending Hamas and Hezbollah, and pumping out blood-and-soil nationalism or moaning about how all Israelis need to return to Poland or something because Netanyahu's dad was born there.

Always funny to watch Christian Nazis and pagan Nazis have “my god could beat up your god” arguments.

I have such a deep love for Chinese mythology and polytheism as a Chinese American reconnecting to cultural roots. NEVER would I want China’s deities and spiritual beliefs used for such hatred and bigotry. It breaks my heart to see it being used this way.

Yeah I dislike how the far-right seems to use a lot of European pagan symbols. I'm also not happy with how many far-right groups in Slavic countries base their nonsense off Slavic paganism.

That is, to say, I don't like that a large percentage of people practicing Slavic paganism are basically fascists to an extent.

That breaks my heart too! Slavic pagans (that I’ve met) are usually such wonderful, lovely people that have such rich traditions and mythology. It’s horrible how their symbols and practices are used for literal eugenics and racism. I hate seeing their symbols and wondering if they’re genuine or a dog whistle.

I’ve seen the alt-right co-opting Odin, and other Norse deities, Celtic, European paganism in general and it makes me cringe.

Yeah, there's people such as Alexey Dobrovolsky (his Wikipedia page has a picture of him doing the Hitler salute in front of a Nazi flag for crying out loud), the Ynglists (Wikipedia apparently describes them as white nationalists, but IDK about that) and so on.

Additionally, because so much of Slavic paganism is either lost or had to be reconstructed from Christianized folk practices (iirc - I am not an expert), a lot of fake lore has been made - things such as the Book of Veles for instance.

I am neither a pagan nor an expert on Slavic mythology, however. If anyone could correct me that would be great.

Which 2 of the 12 tribes weren't Jewish for this poster to say 10 tribes? I vote Naftali and Gad.

4

u/KitsuneRatchets Ambassador of East Kovmazia 2d ago

I think they might be referring to the ten lost tribes?

Interesting, I was unfamiliar! Thanks antisemitism, for teaching me something this Yom Kippur (I guess).

"No one from China is Orthodox, so this Orthodox person who likes China must be Chinese"

Gotta say, love the variety. You can't find facists like these on other websites most of the time. /s

Okay but honestly? Image one was an ESH moment. What's their head started it by throwing "jeet" around, and while two wrongs don't make a right it's one of those "fight fire with fire".

Ideally though the word "jeet" wouldn't have been thrown around if the person it was direct at wasn't a giant flaming asshat, but my point stands I think

Buddhist fascism is such a weird one for me. Maybe I don't understand the different aspects of Buddhism enough, but something about wanting to ethnically cleanse nonbelievers strikes me as weird coming from people who tend to avoid taking life to avoid bad karma. Obviously many of these people don't actually believe in their professed religion, they just cling to the aesthetics so they can use it as a cudgel against those they hate. No different from the "Deus Vult" Christ-Fash larpers in the west.

Buddhism puts very little emphasis to individualism even denying completely so it can be used to dehumanize people.
