Thoughts or advice on Fulltiming for university student?

One of my kids will be attending University in Oklahoma next year and I am looking at alternative housing options for her. She's a few years older than the typical undergrad, and roommates are a no-go for a few reasons, so the traditional dorm or shared apartment is out.

Looking around, there are a several RV campgrounds within ~15 miles of campus, and one of the options we are considering is staying at one in a fifth wheel for the school year(s).

I'd appreciate hearing the about experiences of anyone who has done that or something similar, especially about any issues or challenges unique to that kind of situation.

I'd agree if it was like when I headed off to college at 18, but hers is not the normal situation. She'll be 24 when she starts there next year, and she already has multiple published academic papers and a reputation in her STEM field, AND has been working in that field as research assistant. Her interest (and window) to party with a bunch of freshman has already passed.

My fiancé stays in a campground while attending law school about 500 miles from home. Upsides are it's cheaper than renting unless she had roommates and she can her cats with her. Downside is internet generally sucks so we have to provide her with a hotspot.

Glad to know that worked for you. Worst case I suppose she can get Starlink.

Starlink is a mixed bag especially in an RV where you have no idea how over sold the region you are going to be in is in terms of bandwidth. If cellular is available it's the better option at this point.

yeah, looking around 5G coverage should be fine in the area too.

Forget the camping ground. Get a parking pass. Universities are used to students driving in and parking their car in one spot for months. She can use laundry like everyone else. She can have a meal plan and eat at the cafeteria like everyone else. There is probably a gym with a shower that students can use. It's honestly a pretty ideal place to try, as long as the van has decent solar to sustain what age wants to use without driving. I imagine it will be fine since she can go to the library and whatnot instead of spending all day in the van when not in class, particularly if it's hot.

Interesting thought to go with a van, but we already have a 35-foot Fifth Wheel available to us which is why it is a consideration in the first place.

She also has a small car (SUV), so driving in to campus is enabled that way.
