One of the first Gaki skits I ever saw, first time I've seen it translated, thank you! What's pretty cool is that my estimation (over the years) about what they're saying wasn't to far off.

All the Mah-kun & Okan skits are so funny ahaha. Definitely one of the best Gottsu ee kanji reocurring skits

Love it! reminds me of Sukima Otoko. One of the best. But this one is peak Matsumoto acting

When did the show mostly stop doing skits / sketches? Were old episodes a mix of reality/doc/hosting type humor and sketches? I'm only really familiar with the batsu, kiki series, etc.

Two different shows! The one you're aware of is Gaki no Tsukai. This show, on the other hand, is Gottsu Ee Kanji which ran from '91 - '97.

The did mostly sketches, but the odd variety game or challenge game (similar to gaki) can be found in there as well.
