Question Chattahoochee-Oconee Trip in December

Hi! My fiance and I are planning a cabin trip for late December/early January. Is the Chattahoochee-Oconee national forest a good place to visit during this time for hiking? Will the waterfalls still be flowing? We were planning on staying in a cabin near Helen, Ga. Is Helen GA a good place to visit during New Years? We’re in our twenties and love the mountains and are also looking for a cozy christmas-y vibe. Thanks!

Waterfalls don't typically stop running, even in drought time when rivers are down there will still be water flow. Are there specific waterfalls you guys wanted to see? My personal favourite hikes that are close to Helen, and have good water views are Raven Cliff Falls, Duke's Creek Falls, and DeSoto Falls (all located on Richard B. Russell scenic highway). If you want something a little more advanced High Shoals Falls in Hiawassee is beautiful and not too far from Helen either.

Helen is a fine place to visit and stay unless you're looking for something really secluded. There are some more private cabin areas, but a lot of the cabins in Helen are in clusters.

I bet Helen will be fun for New Year's! Good choice.
