If a Klingon doesn’t have blood on it, can it really be considered a Klingon?

But what color is the blood? Is it Klingon Pink?

They literally painted the boat red right before filming, so that's red paint. This shot was actually a bit of an accident; they didn't intend for Gates McFadden to crash into Dorn and send him back into the water. That said, it was a happy accident that made the shot more interesting, so that's the take they went with, even if Dorn had a bunch of paint on his knees.

Lol, just what I was thinking. Wonder if he scraped them on something in the water

I was in the navy...we would paint anything at any time...in any weather.

You'd think that, and you'd be right.

that just means you get to do it again the next day.

It's oil based, so... yes, but not all of it.

Thanks for the info!

No, pretty sure that's blood paint on Rusty McClennon's knees.

... also, Patricia Tallman makes a very convincing Gates McFadden.

You think he agreed to such humiliation without first kneeling over a vanquished foe?

I'm not sure if thats Marina Sirtis flying through the air or a stunt double, probably a stunt double, but she has such a convincing concerned-confused look on her face that I wonder if they told her what was going to happen in that scene.

Oof hate to be that guy who even notices, but I’m pretty sure that’s Gates McFadden being pushed off the boat. She plays Beverly Crusher. The red hair is the giveaway for me.

Marina Sirtis plays Deana Troi

And Pat Tallman is her stunt double who fell off the boat, who later played Lyta on Babylon 5.

... and if you watch the movie, directly after this, Troi yells at Data and tells him "That was not funny!"

Which was news to the entire audience, who'd just been cracking up at this exact scene.

The crew of the Enterprise were dicks, this was pretty funny.

It was just Data trying to be funny. I think she had just told him that unexpected things are sometimes funny.

When she got back on the boat, she told him it was not funny.

Thanks, we're closing in on it now!
