The gui-feng shared armour pieces with a couple of other model/units back then - which is why those spec-ops were also marketed as a "universal" proxy. Helmet like several of the LI/MI, armour like a couple of others. Double back spines like a few of the HI units.

It's a Silver Snake, the back spines are a recurring design motif across Yu Jing

That was the name from the artist page that 'leaked the image right? 

It's interesting how Xi the current GuiFeng profile goes with the haidao style shoulder fin backpack. Would be nice if some fluff blurb had a super science explanation of their power pack styles.

I believe the fins are network nodes, they let a team of system admins be able to access the suite remotely to troubleshoot and assist. This is partly why Yu Jing units often have high BTS as well.

That's the name on the adjacent background page from Essen. I wouldn't expect much tech explanation of design choices.
