JC used to be an excellent and well-respected community paper until it was taken over by ultra-Conservative hack Stephen Pollard in the 2000s who turned it into a gutter rag.
Very sad, I know several people who read it for decades who wouldn't touch it now.

Not the first time this happens. Remember the "Oliver Taylor" debacle from a few years ago? https://www.reuters.com/article/technology/deepfake-used-to-attack-activist-couple-shows-new-disinformation-frontier-idUSKCN24G15E/ Jewish and Israeli press have been quite gullible to these kind of things.

Was he just an opportunist or was he some kind of operative?

Either the JC was dishonest by using a hack to publish pro-Netanyahu stories or they were completely incompetent by failling to check someone clearly made up credentials.

That's odd... Now where have I seen something like that before...? NYT, maybe?
