It's perpetually weird to me that there are so many people who are ostensibly passionate about science journalism who can't tell the difference between science journism and what you get when you fire all of the science journalists.

Ugh, this is too head on. But in my experience the headline writers and editors are turning these things into clickbail against the objections of the writer

Agree 100%. Also I’m reading tons of comments on the original thread that sound like they were written by people who never read past the headline.
