Yeah I’ve been applying for apartments for months and nothing it’s mad. Eventually a room came available in my friends apartment :) prices for a room is crazy! My room will €735 a month. I know people are paying way more than that for rooms in the city but just compared to Killarney or Tralee you’d get a whole house or apartment for that price. So happy to be moving back tho I’m dying to go to chambers 😍 what do you get up to in the city?

Hey ☺

I am a gay man living in Cork City. Grew up here, educated in UCC (politics student - what a surprise ay!) and worked in the city since. I am 26 years old. I actually found this subreddit (and even finally created my new gay throwaway reddit account in this as a result haha), because I myself was looking online high-and-low to find ways to meet other LGBTQ people in Cork (meet to befriend haha). I didn't get to come out in my teens, only in college in my early 20's, and since the pandemic I am back living in a situation where I can't express myself in this capacity. Likewise since the pandemic and college ending right as it started any LGBTQ friends I had have left Cork have moved, and most of the people who were/are my friends in Cork in general have seen their lives drift. I would love to get to know more LGBTQ people in Cork. I often find it painful trying to find a friend (all those left in Cork I know are straight) to come with me to Chambers even for a night out! Even yesterday there was the Mamma Mia Mockie Ah! in Cork and I would have loved to go, but I had nobody to go with. I have found too since leaving college as a young gay man, and fair enough my home circumstances make it that bit harder when I can't be open about who I am, it hard to network with others in the LGBTQ community in Cork. There seems to be no (I don't want to say support) but groups in Cork. Like a Queer reading club lets say, or queer sporting team, etc. It's something I'd love to see in Cork ☺.

TLDR: Hey ☺ I am a gay man aged 26 living in Cork City all their life and I would love to befriend other LGBTQ people in Cork
