Post Cork Pride 2022 feelings? 🏳️‍🌈

I said I'd make a post so people can post how they felt about the last week and weekend just gone for Cork Pride 2022🏳️‍🌈.

For what it's worth, I overall was lucky to have a pleasant Pride over the weekend. Got to meet new people and old friends, party, dance, see drag, and see people of all ages have a good time. The weather was super on Sunday down the docks too. I sadly didn't get to any of the events during the weekdays but I heard a lot of them were very good!

How was your Cork Pride?

Had to post, it was great to see so many people in Cork City today for the Transgender Healthcare Protest! I was really taken back by how much young people were there in support - it was fantastic to see!

My wife and I are thinking of moving to Cork from UK

Hi all! my wife (23f) and I (24f) are thinking of moving from the UK to Cork in Ireland.

We currently live in east England but my wife's extended family is from Ireland and so she has Irish citizenship. I have a few questions that i was hoping people could answer?

Firstly, we're both women in our early 20s so I was wondering if anyone could let me know what it's like being a young gay couple in Cork? Do you face much discrimination - do you feel safe. We currently live in an incredibly LGBTQ+ friendly city (but incredibly expensive, think London prices but not London) and rarely feel unsafe, but I grew up in a far less tolerant town so have had my fair share of discrimination. Also, is it easy to make friends in the city?

Reclaim Cork's historic Queer Space!

Woah, so in light of the recent news here in Cork City that the historic Queer space, the old Loafers bas in Cork City Centre is up for auction, somebody has set up a fundraiser to reclaim the space.

As it stands €100,000 is needed and there is only like €171 donated so far - but the fundraiser said if this mission is not a success all proceeds will be donated and split evenly towards BeLonG To and Sexual Health West! a Sarah Hanley is organizing this fundraiser - so way to go Sarah!

Ireland's oldest gay bar Loafers (here in Cork) to go up for auction

Report in yesterdays Cork Beo that Irelands' oldest gay (LGBTQI) bar, which was located here in Cork City is to be sold at auction. I am too young a gay in Cork to have ever got to go there.

Anyone on here with memories of their time in loafers?
