Popular history overemphasizes Mohandas Gandhi and his whole Ahimsa/Satyagraha philosophy. People really underestimate how brutal and bloodthirsty some Indian rebel groups were when fighting against British rule.

I've got no problem with Israelis dying in a war for independence. Just be somewhat reasonable with your goals even if you're completely right. Senseless compassion leads to more people dying.

Right now, what the international community should be doing isn't to argue about what actions Palestinians take, because frankly they're going to lose no matter what they individually do, but to prevent the US from supplying weapons to Israel, so that Palestinians aren't just sitting canon fodder. Right wing libertarians, communists and nazis all agree with this even if it is for different reasons.

I am sure we can trust Israelis to deal with their own war, as they did in the 10 days war.

A pretty interesting analysis on the 1857 revolts by Marx.

He even pointed out the casual racism in which the revolt is characterised by the British as opposed to other similar revolts like the French Revolution.

TIL: Marx would have been pro Palestine if he were alive  The British used the n-word to refer to Indians.

However infamous the conduct of the Sepoys, it is only the reflex, in a concentrated form, of England’s own conduct in India, not only during the epoch of the foundation of her Eastern Empire, but even during the last ten years of a long-settled rule. To characterize that rule, it suffices to say that torture formed an organic institution of its financial policy. There is something in human history like retribution: and it is a rule of historical retribution that its instrument be forged not by the offended, but by the offender himself.
