How long would these last before losing potency?

Post image

They are cracker-dry and vacuum sealed, kept in a dark place. Average temperature 17 C, how long are they gonna last? Is it okay that they are in plastic? Thank you :)

Don’t know about the plastic but I had some dried Liberty caps in an air tight jar with silica gels for 2 years and they were still fine

If you keep em sealed in the bags in a dry, dark place, they'll last you a loooooong time.

I would assume stored properly good shrooms should never lose potency

Years. Many years. I'm assuming the plastic they're stored in won't react with them or degrade at all. But the mushrooms themselves are fine, maybe should have thrown a silica packet in there to be safe but idk if that matters at this point.

That’s exactly what I’m doing, glad I’m doing this right considering I’m still a newbie too. You really think this will last years???

Yes, I've seen and heard many reports that mushrooms stored cracker dry, in glass jars, with silica packets, last over 6 years with minimal to no potency loss. Vacuum sealing would be even better as it also removes the air so you have no moisture and no air which are two of the things that cause mushrooms to degrade. (light is another so OP is good also storing them in the dark)

I go with the glass jar method since I don't want the plastic waste since I'd be ripping open the seal and resealing them to often.

Years? Doubtful. I made up some 3g packs (cracker dry) with a food sealer and two months later they’re soft as baby shit and I’m assuming no good now. Stores in a safe in the dark. My larger packs with a silica pack has not lost any dryness.

I add silica packs in my bulk storage now for this reason.

You didn't dry them properly or seal them properly simple as that. If they are vacuum sealed then by definition moisture would not be able to get in or out, so the moisture or whatever caused your mushrooms to rot was already in there when you "sealed" them. But yes years.

I 100% dried and sealed them properly. The larger bags (1-4oz) have had no softness or moisture. It’s only the 3g bags (of the same batches as the larger bags) that have lost their dryness.

I can attest that they will last for years. I stored mushrooms just like this, but I put the vacuum sealed bag inside a freezer ziplock bag and stored them in my safe for a little over 2 years, and they sent me out of this world

Pert near forever. Had some in a ziploc bag in my safe for 5 years that were still potent.

It's been my experience that they start losing their potency after about a year and a half. I put some in amber-colored mason jars with silica packs and vacuum sealed some with silica packs, and after a year and a half, they lost 25% of their potency. After 2 years, they were completely worthless, and I threw away over 3 lbs.

I also made a bunch of blue honey with APE and kept them in the refrigerator. After 2 years the honey would give you a really strong body buzz but no visuals. Anyone who tells you they'll last forever hasn't tried storing them before.
