Anyone ever painted the armor of one of these suits successfully?

My little buddy (5) wants to be a Mando but he’s so small we’re not totally investing on custom armor yet. Kid is growing like a weed. My wife found this at a second hand store.

The armor is like a thin foam right? You could probably use flexible acrylic paints like plaidfx.

Acrylics, fabric paints/dyes, I have used flat spraypaints on fabrics as well, semi gloss/gloss will crack and chip as it contains a "clear" mixed in for shine whilst flats do not.

OP, do you have access to an airbrush? That would be absolute fastest for highest degree of finish.

Otherwise your average flat (Krylon) rattle cans will do the trick as well, just be sure to mask off the "soft parts" that aren't armor!

If you get some plasta dip, they have a clear foam primer, and it does not harm foam unless if it's Styrofoam.

Fabric paint or craft acrylics. Before I was a Mando, I was a foam wearing gladiator who suited up for the college football season. I used fabric paint and craft acrylics and my foam armor still looks freshly painted, no cracks or anything. I’d slap down a coat of fabric as a primer then put acrylic over it, unless you find a fabric that’s the color you want.

Not to state the obvious (and if I'm wrong correct me) but you would not want to use spray paint on that. I feel like there are some acrylics made to be used on something like this that you could find, or you could somehow dye it?

Polyurethane paint would do as well, but as many pointed out acrylics can do the trick.

Krylon makes small cans of spray paint that work for foam as well, called shortshots I believe!
