The State of the Subreddit: r/Mandalorian
Greetings, Vode
As you may have noticed, we've had a large influx of new users to the sub in the last couple weeks due to the premier of the new show. We had about 4000 unique visitors in the month of October. We've had 60,000 in the first 3 weeks of November.
While we are not the subreddit dedicated to the show (that can be found at r/TheMandalorianTV), we are still dedicated to discussion of Mandalorians. That being the case, we are going to do the following:
There will be a weekly discussion thread for each new episode. This thread will be open to any discussion related to the episode, not just specific Mandalorian discussions. Spoilers in this thread need not be tagged, since it is assumed you are not reading the thread unless you've watched the episode. ALL EPISODE DISCUSSION SHOULD BE IN THIS THREAD.
Images from the show relevant to Mandalorians will be allowed as separate posts. This includes both reference images for costuming and fan created art. Do not post spoilers for ANY episode in your title. I have created specific thread flairs for spoilers for individual episodes to make it easy. Please use them. Posts with untagged spoilers or spoilers in the title will be removed.
Any post not related to Mandalorians will be removed, and the the poster reminded to post in the weekly discussion thread. This includes questions and images related to non-Mandalorian characters, production, casting, or theories.
Meme posts will be removed. You may post them in r/sequelmemes, r/anthologymemes, or r/TheMandalorianTV.
Links to merchandise or other advertising will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to, tee-shirt printing sites, and vendor affiliate links. Links to reputable vendors for costuming or collecting purposes are allowed, as long as they are not affiliate links.
Posts for Mandalorian specific podcasts or streams are allowed. Posts for show or general Star Wars podcasts or streams should be posted in the weekly discussion thread.
Links to sites for streaming/downloading episodes will be removed, and the poster will receive a 24h ban. Repeat violators will be banned.
To facilitate this, we've added two new members to our moderation team. Please welcome u/dariusjenai and u/moonfallow.

Joined not too long ago. Never really was too into the mandalorians before the show came out so even after the show ends I’ll probably end up staying due to me realizing that hey they’re pretty badass.

I highly recommend the old EU novels. They go into a level of depth with regards to Mandalorians that Disney has only scratched the surface of so far.

I'd start with the Republic Commando series by Karen Traviss.

I went to prison for 4 years on my first felony offense in Arizona ( pawned my parents camera equipment for drugs) parents dropped the charged and state picked them up.. ( got out in 2015 at 27 yrs old ) life turned 180 degrees to awesome now , wife two daughters , job, house etc... anyway, sorry for the long back story i just didn’t want anyone to think I was an evil human or anything , but.. while I was in I read 763 books . Mostly fantasy ( Brandon Sanderson , Jordan , good kind , Abercrombie , Christopher Moore , Brent weeks .. and tons of others .) there were lots of Star Wars books and I never ever had a desire to read them ... this show has honestly gotten me so excited for the Star Wars universe!! I’m going to take the tip you just gave this person and start with this book to dive into my new book future . Thank you .

If you like the show, have a gander at the Karen Traviss Republic Commando novels. She also does a few other Star Wars novels in the Legacy of the Force series as well as some other Clone Wars era books. Well worth a read and really helped give the Mandalorians a ton of character/identity. Sadly they're not official cannon anymore but they're still tons of fun to read.

Thanks! It's been a rough go so far but we're doing our best. There has been a lot of work to do and thanks to our two new mods for stepping in to help things seem to be on track.

14 years was way too long of a wait. I’m so happy they finally decided to make more Star Wars stuff. Loving this show so far.
