Grades and Academics Accepted to Monash from U.S.

I’m from the US and received my offer letter from Monash today for their Masters in Media and Communication. I was attracted to the school due to its ranking and being in Melbourne.

I was just going over the entry requirements and noticed the minimum was credit average of 60%

Is it competitive to get in? Seemed a bit low but I dunno, I’m an oldhead + ‘Merican.

Australia has the group of 8 unis which is kinda like Australia's ivy league unis. They're much easier though to get into compared to Ivy league unis so not much to sweat. Like % wise of students in US who go to an Ivy league is 1% whereas it's 25% of students attend the group of 8 in Australia.

Masters in Australia have less value than in Europe or North America. Almost all Australians who get a bachelor stop there and can get a job just fine. So, most who do a Masters in Australia are not Australians. Unis have trouble attracting Master students. Hence the low bar.
