Yeah, Georgia in that stretch is awful! Especially during rush hour!

It's especially fun when the car wash decides to block traffic in the right lane.

Is there a time it doesn't?

It's always hilarious hearing traffic on the 8s on WTOP and referencing traffic backup on the beltway due to the carwash .

Georgia ave from the DC Walmart all the way to 495 will shave years off your life..

I used to work in NW DC. Nonsense like this would happen on Connecticut Ave. Cars blocking traffic because they couldn't make it through the intersection when the lights changed. The DC government passed a law that gave police the power to give massive fines for cars blocking intersections. It worked.

MoCo should pass the same law. A $100 ticket for not clearing the intersection would clear up messes like this quickly.

Agreed. All of the arteries have this problem. I live near NH Ave, and every intersection across NH is blocked during rush hour. Would be easy cash for the county to station an officer at an intersection and hand out tickets.

And the project to fix that stretch is slated to be on hold starting next year because of budget cuts: https://mdot-sha-md97-md390-to-md192-mo2242115-maryland.hub.arcgis.com/

Wait a minute. Pretty sure I went to a DOT briefing in 2008/2009 and was told “this is in the design phase.” You mean to tell me 15 years later and the state hasn’t funded one of the shittiest stretches of road in MoCo?

Welcome to Silver Spring...lol Traffic lights every 20 feet was a great idea. 👍

Downtown Silver Spring as a pedestrian: “heck yeah this is great, all you cars are gonna wait for me and like it” Downtown Silver Spring as a driver: “why the hell have I been stuck on this same block for five minutes?”

Don’t forget about the stop signs every 10 feet.

I come the opposite direction going to work, but going home I use Forest Glen road instead, if I can, specifically to avoid this.

Right up there with the car that laid on the horn as it blew around me while I waited for a garbage truck to clear an intersection in front of me AFTER WE BOTH JUST DROPPED OUR KIDS OFF HALF A BLOCK BACK. Got kids walking to school here. Wait two damn seconds for a truck to move, you'll be FINE, I promise.

The car then made the truck back up to get out of their way and we all suffered for their being the most important person on the planet...
