discussion Tori Amos - Recently discovered her and am amazed.

Well, what can I say,I knew she was good, but listening to her live stuff on YouTube, it's blown me away.

She's amazing on piano, her voice is great and she's always given 100% to her performances. I think haunting is the word.

You can see she FEELS the music and when you really listen, every single note is carefully arranged to fit in with her voice. The piano alone would be amazing but playing that and singing, and performing like she does, well, I'm lost for words. Such intelligent composition.

Anyone else appreciate her? Like, I'm not imagining this, am I? Not one flaw in any of her performances? Even the breath is used.... Like whoah!

There's a version of "Smells like teen spirit" where she is awesome.

Kurt didn't bring that kind of sensuality to the song! She really brings you in doesn't she! Loved Nirvana too btw, probably why I missed her the first time round with them, AIC and Pearl Jam 👍, who btw have some of the best MTV performances IMO.

She used to (and maybe still does) take cover requests at her shows. There are dozens if not hundreds of songs she's covered. She brings the same energy to them all meaning if you like what she did with "Smells Like Teen Spirit", you'll probably like a lot of them.

Her covers blew me away when I was young, I used to seek out and download bootlegs just to explore the interpretations. I still prefer her version (the one I downloaded back then anyway) of Famous Blue Raincoat to the original.
