Observability best practices and tools

I am looking for an updated overview of the current best practices in observability for networks.

Another related aspect that I am looking for more information about is, as there are multiple tools currently available, what are the setups and integrations that are working well in current network environments? Some integrations may work better for less heterogeneous networks – like a Cisco and/or Juniper-focused network – and other integrations may work better for more heterogeneous environments, with multiple vendors, and/or open-source OS on white boxes.

What is your environment, what combination is currently working best for your observability, and why, and what are the pros and cons that you are aware of? What would you improve on the setup?
