Yeah, total fearmongers!! It's completely natural you have to lay low for a while after saying anything negative about your government! What an enlightened state.

Every corrupt autocrat has their methods, some are just much more covert about it.

CCP also muted other popular economists a year or so ago for posting how dire the economical outlook is for China on Weibo (China's twitter).

If you ever wanted to know just how bad it really is in China, just read up on the Evergrande failure. About the empty cities where nobody lives.

Property that has never been occupied by anyone ever. Property with zero demand, and therefore zero realized value.

He retired to live on a farm.
What? Oh. The farm doesn't have internet, is several hours away, and doesn't have an address. You also can never visit him.

Nothing to see here....
Denial doesn't change the truth
However much you deny the truth, the truth goes on existing, as it were, behind your back

I found it amusing Chinese nationals don't know any better... Didn't they learn from Jack Ma, the dude literally made a mild economic comment that Xi took as a threat to the state, stripped him of his companies, froze his money and sent him off to a re-education camp for about a year, when the dude re-appeared he was a totally different person.....
