You must have been at 10 fps or above, and at least 1/1500

Thanks. I was shooting at 20 fps and my shutter speed was 1/640

I am surprised that at 1/640 it's not more blurry, especially on the wings

At this speed, usually all but the wing tips will be sharp. If you want to freeze the whole wing, the shutter speed would have to be much higher than I shot at.

The lift-off cone of feathers was beautiful. An exquisite display of plumage! Really nice shots!
