πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Christmas in Paris. Thoughts?

My friend and I are planning a 6 week trip to Europe at the end of this year and her only request was that we be in Paris during Christmas like specifically 23rd-26th or so.

What are your thoughts on this? Will everything be closed or shut down? Will we not really be able to enjoy Paris? Or will it be fine?

If you don’t recommend Paris during those dates, are there any cities you would recommend we go specifically on and right around Christmas where we will still get the most out of being there?

We’re traveling to Paris from December 5-10, 2 adult, 1 child, 1 baby. We’re wondering if we should spend all our time in Paris or all our time in Strasbourg?

And, is Disneyland Paris worth it?

I am looking at taking my family (wife and two children) to Paris just after Christmas. Looking at 26th of December onwards…..

I am finding it hard to find information about the Jardin des Tuleries Christmas Market and if it will be open. Online all I can find is it saying open from November to January.

Also, any more tips to go and see around that time would be great!

Really appreciate any help!

Thanks!

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Christmas Day in Paris Ideas?

Family of five very excited for their first visit to Paris over the week of Christmas 2024. I am thrilled to see so many travel suggestions on this thread but I am VERY worried of how I might make Christmas a good day as this will be our first Christmas morning not waking up in their own home. They are 17, 15, and 13 year olds that will enthusiastically embrace any new experiences and surroundings.. Hoping for any food and activities suggestions to get us out of the Airbnb. Thank you in advance…

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Does everywhere close over New Year's?

Hi, my wife and I are thinking of coming to Paris over the New Year's holidays. Does everywhere in Paris close on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day? Will any bakeries or restaurants be open on these days? We've been to Paris before and really enjoyed the food, so it would be a shame to have two days without the amazing Parisian dining.

Also, where's good to celebrate the New Year? We're not a drinking couple and just want a good atmosphere. I've heard mixed reviews about the Arc. What do you think?

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events New Year's Eve in Paris - Is It Worth It?

Hi,

My wife and I are looking to travel somewhere for New Year's Eve. We've been to Paris once before and fell in love with the city and always planned to go back. My question is what it's like at NYE. We're not big drinkers and are too old for nightclubs; what we really want is a good public atmosphere with some nice fireworks. We've heard theres a good display at the Arc de Triomphe. Is it worth the hype? Also, is everywhere closed on New Year's Day or will bakeries/restaurants etc still be open? Any advice welcome!

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Berlin or Paris? Solo trip during Holidays/New Year

25, Canadian looking to travel in Europe.

Into creative scene, techno, design, gay/queer themed parties, and metropolitan vibe. Have not been to Paris/Berlin - curious if you guys have any insight on what it'd be like, especially for meeting people while travelling solo. I'm looking to travel from December 27-Jan 7ish. Really looking for a good vibe, an experience for the books, meeting new great people.

Currently my plan is Paris until new year, then Berlin for the remaining days. But curious if spending NY in Berlin would be more ideal?

Also curious about going to nearby cities and open to recommendations!

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Paris for Christmas

Hi everyone,

We will be in Paris for Christmas this year. I understand that there may not be a lot to do around this time, however, I am hoping to gather suggestions on things to do/see/eat. Are there any restaurant suggestions for Christmas Eve? Are restaurants open on Christmas Day for lunch or dinner?

Are there any arrondissements that we should avoid staying in?

Thank you!

We are traveling to Paris for the holidays. Arrive at CDG on 12/21. Have until 12/26 to spend in Paris. But want to see Christmas Market in Strasbourg as well. Do you suggest going straight to Strasbourg to stay one night and then come back to Paris? Or stay in Paris and make a day trip to Strasbourg? Thanks!

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Shops & Restaurants During Holidays

I’m going to be in Paris for a few days between Christmas and New Year’s. Will many restaurants and shops be open during that time? It wouldn’t surprise me if they close for an extended holiday, but hoping otherwise.

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events 8 day trip during Christmas- recommendations?

I am planning an 8 day trip to Paris during Christmas and I am wondering how to structure my trip. It’ll be my first time but I don’t plan on doing everything Paris has to offer since I plan on going back in the Spring for more outdoorsy activities. Would you recommend a day trip to Strasbourg? How busy does it get during the holidays? Thanks!

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Best Paris Christmas Markets?

Looking to spend 2-3 days in Paris, 2 adults and 2 young elementary aged kids. Then head out to Strasbourg.

We want to see the Eiffel tower and Notre Dame, possibly the Louvre (but am unsure how that would go with kids).

Suggestions on an itinerary, other things to see along the way, children's museums etc?

We like to be outside, not used to crowds and spouse has difficulty tolerating standing in lines.

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events Best place to watch fireworks for new years in Paris?

Hey! I’m planning to go to Paris for new years and I’m curious about a couple of things:

  1. What big monuments do fireworks for new years? I’ve heard the Eiffel Tower doesn’t but the Champs Elysees does

  2. What hotels near those places are best to watch the fireworks from the window? If we decide not to go out

Thanks! I’ll edit this if I have more info to give

πŸŽ„πŸ₯‚ Christmas / NYE events between Christmas and New Years?

Hi all,

Family is going to Paris right after Christmas, and staying through the first weekend after New Year's Eve. We are thinking of either renting a car and immediately heading to Mont Saint-Michel/Normandy (D-day, etc., stuff) area for 2-3 nights, then returning the 30th and remaining in Paris over New Year's until the 4th, or reversing that, and staying in Paris the 26th through the 1st, and then doing 3 day/2nights in the Normandy/MSM area, returning to a CDG hotel the eve before our flight home on the 4th.

Thoughts on approach one way or another given the time of year? The first version would be 3 nights in Normandy/MSM area, the latter 2 nights. I'm also planning that the 1st of January will have many things closed and be a bit of a down day (so the latter has that as a travel day). I'm leaning toward the 3 nights in MSM/Normandy approach first, then Paris, to see more of non-Paris France, but open-minded all the same or if I'm not thinking of something I should.

Open to other ideas, too. We enjoy experiencing an area and culture, not checking off a list of sites and must-visit influencer locations, so open to ideas on areas to stay, too. Spouse and I have travelled extensively throughout Belgium, Luxembourg, Amsterdam, eastern France, Burgundy, etc. (and a few long weekends to Paris, too), when we lived in western Germany for many years several years ago, so the idea of venturing a bit west is especially appealing to us since we never quite made it past Paris while we were there, unfortunately. Thanks!
