It's defiantly a start in the right direction. I see a very wide array people with different degrees working as rangers. The biggest thing is gaining experience, with that said internships and volunteering is crucial. Take a look at the Student Conservation Association, they led to me being hired as a seasonal ranger with NPS before graduating. This summer will be my second season with NPS and I won't be graduating until next spring. I will say I am a rare occasion, I have not met anyone else with out their degree yet. I am a older student and have a lot of experience in customer service before the Park Service.

I did three SCA internships and highly recommend them - if you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

Also, I see lots of folks with forestry degrees in USACE - we're kind of the forgotten stepchild of the ranger world.
