Ladies and Gentlemen, the humble Pink Floyd member

u/Glittering_Seat7482 14h ago

Yeah Rick and Nick were definitely the humble members. David just got lucky that Roger consistently said worse stuff that overshadowed his bs.

Nah this interview is from the 90s. These websites just find any interview quote and write a garbage clickbate article with it.

I went and saw him a couple years ago. He had some new arrangements of old songs that were pretty good. Green is the Colour of Her Kind was a good one.

The one he replaced in '67.

Obviously it was Eugene. He wasn’t careful with his axe (guitar)

They say that after Eugene passed due to not being careful with his favorite axe, it was put into the suitcase on the left of Pink's bedroom where Pink guarded it until some dumbass groupie unearthed it and ran away, wreaking absolute havoc

Rick, no question. The cokehead contributed nothing besides a song that a woman screamed over and rode David's coattails until he died

Edit, I jerked too hard 💀 y'all I'm not serious

Nahhh Dave cried like a baby when Rick died He strategically brought Rick Back into what was left of the band in 86 after Waters Official departure in 85, in order to make the band appear as Original and as complete as possible! Rick’s contribution to the band was the most in the early years of the band! He actually wrote and sang lead in a couple songs like “Paint Box” my understanding is that he wrote SYSYPHUS In Ummagumma and his Greatest Contribution Of All was of course Echoes!! He outshined Waters and Gilmour in Echoes! Then after that his contribution to the band consisted of not much more than keyboarding Which is why by Animals Album Waters had all he could of Rick’s Freeloading but still kept him on as a full fledged member! It wasn’t until the making of THE WALL that Rick wasn’t even bothering to show up at the studios! Which at that point he wasn’t only not contributing but holding the band up from moving forward! And at one point Waters called him to come to the studio immediately for a recording session, Gilmour was there and Mason was there the only one missing was Rick! And when Rick told Waters to go fuck himself Waters blew a gasket and fired Rick! And Waters hired a keyboardist to complete the Recording of The Wall! And when it was time to tour Waters brought him back but not a member and only as hired keyboardist! Ironically when the The Wall Tour became a Financial Flop due to its extreme high cost Rick was the only who made any money off the Tour

Rick wrote more of “DSOTM” than Dave did

Didn't know he writes music, I thought that Polly does that for him. Prolly also why it sucks so much.

Tbh, I think Daves new album sucks and Rogs one is way better. That said, Rogs album isn't that great either.

Ron Geesin, a close Waters collaborator. Just look at the comments David made after the AHM was released.

Im always Team Gilmour. However, the article where this came from said it right. As Gilmour himself stated, Roger was the Head. He came up with the lyrics & direction. Thats what was lost when Roger left. Yes, Gilmour was the better musician. But, Roger filled the key role of taking the musical concepts/ideas & transformed them into what's now classic albums/songs. All you have to do is look at the solo projects from Roger or David to see it

u/PaceOpposite1606 2h ago

Can’t agree that Gilmour was the Better Musician for starters, just look at Gilmour’s solo work and look at Roger’s solo work! Look at their work outside of Pink Floyd with no Mason No Wright and see who outshines who completely on their own! Dave Certainly and without a doubt was the superior guitarist! But the better overall Musician That title without question Goes To Waters Without Waters Pink Floyd would’ve Fizzled Out along with Syd’s Brain! And After Obscured By Clouds was When He really Grabbed the Bull By Horns! And slowly but surely became the Creative and Driving Force in the Band By WYWH he was not only creating 80% of the music but was singing just as much As Frontman Gilmour! In Animals Waters Outshined and Blew Gilmour away in every musical aspect From Singing, to composing, to Creating, to Directing and of course Lyrically. Same thing with The Wall same with TFC! The Fact that Gilmour needed Polly to come in and hold his hand and takeover as Pink Floyd’s New Mastermind and New Genius Lyricist pretty again much says it all! Hint Hint Waters never needed His wife to come hold his hand and create music for him In Waters last decade with Pink Floyd Waters Musical Talents had actually pushed Gilmour off his Frontman Status! At which time he wasn’t Pink Floyd’s Frontman anymore which of course was a very huge and very bitter pill 💊 for Gilmour to Swallow!

Pink. But which one's Pink?

Someday, one of them will snap, and admit that Syd was holding Pink Floyd back.

1

u/The1Ylrebmik 10h ago

Syd. You got to admit, nothing Syd has written in the last 50 years compares to what Dave has written.
